Didn't we already win in St. Louis? Where is all this 'can't win in St Louis' crap coming from? Sure, it was a terrible way to lose. However, I would take Lidge with two outs in the ninth and Pujols up for the whole shibang anytime. This is not worst than Buffalo. Not as big a collapse and there are more games to be played. We have the only 20 game winner the last two years up next. Astros win 5-2.

Now I'm almost happy that I'm going to the nine inch nails concert on Wednesday night. I just don't think I can emotionally take watching that game tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have a voicemail waiting for me when i leave the concert, telling me that the Stros won.

That was so painful last night. I had to take a couple xanax to finally knock me out. I promised I was going to stay away from all things sports related for the next few days. I'm starting a new job tomorrow, that will take my mind off of it hopefully. :(

if that ever happens, NOTE TO BRAD LIDGE: DO NOT PUT THE BALL ON A ****ING TEE TO PUJOLS! I would rather see you throw 4 straight pitches behind the backstop than to serve some **** like that to pujols again.

i disagree..in baseball terms, it was absolutely on par with that. one strike away...nobody on...two outs. one good pitch away from a pennant. one ground ball or pop up away from a pennant.

heart-wrenching. i was much more devastated by this than Buffalo. and if we go on and lose the series, i'll vomit even more.

I have never felt a higher high or a lower low than I did last night. I am at the point where I refuse to believe it happened. In my mind, we won and anything that happens in between the 1-2 count on Eckstein last night and Pettitte's Game 1 start in Chicago on Saturday is a figment of my imagination.

Please cancel this thread as it is irrelevant since we won the NL pennant last night.

You act like he meant to throw the pitch right there. He made a damn mistake and probably was trying to throw it in the dirt especially with an 0-1 count.

I think Lidges biggest mistake was the walk to Edmonds, but it happens and Lidge got beat. He's been awesome for most of his career and especially in the playoffs ... I'd be perfectly happy with him in the exact situation again. You're not gonna beat Lidge twice!

I will never look at the Astros the same way ever again if they blow this now. How can you come away and say "we will get them next year"? This is next year dammit!

I still can't believe we're having this conversation. I should be basking in World Series glory right now. Instead, I've got to wonder if Lidge's IQ is just above the level of being r****ded. Lidge thought he could beat Pujols, the best hitter in the game, and he was sorely mistaken. It's all on him at the moment.

I know I know. It was more of posting with pure anger still.

Regardless, I'd rather see 4 straight balls to pujols in any situation, whether it turned out to be the difference in the game or not.

You just don't pitch to pujols with the game on the line like that, the guy's on steroids (whether MLB can man up and test pujols, who knows...) and it's why he's the greatest hitter in the game.

This team will have the same taint on them as the Houston Oilers did. I hate to think of how bad this will be if we go on to lose this series.

Nope...I said I would never look at them the same way. I didn't say anything about jumping off a bandwagon, stopping watching, or giving up. I just said I will never view them the same way cause they had been there and didn't get it done again. We said that last year and this is our shot.

Does anybody think it's time to get Willy T back in the starting lineup? I think Burke's streak is over and it's time to get the guy who has been doing it all year back in there.

Lidge should never been trying to get the slider to pujols for the simple reason that it can miss and miss bad. If you miss with the fastball you still throw it 97 miles an hour. So while Lidge may have been trying to throw in the dirt he knew there was a chance to miss. If the astros lose this series Lidge will always and forever be known as the guy who served it up to Pujols. I cannot FREAKIN believe he threw anything near the plate much less in the heart of the plate. I am depressed, sick, and walking around like I have been broken up with. Halellujah pass the tylenol!!

tough call....if anything u would have to bench Lamb and play Willie and Burke in CF and LF....but I dont know if we can afford to bench Lamb....but like I said before, if they do it, its all a figment of my imagination since we won last night.

Abso-freaking-lutely. I agree with you 1,000 percent. Even though Burke got on base before Berkman's HR in the 7th, Willy T. would have caught the flyball that Burke dove for in the 2nd.

No, it might be on the same terms if it had been game 7. We can still win this series.

C'mon, people. We have Roy O on the mound. The Astros will be in this game. It's just a matter of how they hit with RISP. If Morgan Ensberg can give them anything, they'll close it out in 6.

And if there's any justice in the world, Brad Lidge will be on the mound in the 9th to redeem himself.

The series and Astros are due for a blow out.

    Astros win 8-2. Book it.

Garner puts Lidge in the 9th anyway, despite the score, and he strikes out Edmonds, Pujols and Walker to take us to the World Series and shut everyone up about his career being over.
