I've never felt so horrible about sports in all my life at this point here and now...not even after the Buffalo-Houston debacle. I'm so emotionally drained that I almost don't care what happens. If we don't get it done, then I don't think we will ever go to the WS. I couldn't sleep last night. I kept re-living the moment. I'm pissed off at the world. I don't want to work. I don't want to eat. I can't sleep. I can't concentrate. I'm sick to my stomach. I hate the world.
To summarize, any chance the Astros have is Wed night. If we don't close it out, Clemens or no Clemens, Game 7 is going to be very tough. I feel for you guys who are diehard fans. I was there with you guys for the Rockets and Oilers. I have grown distant with the Astros but it is still tough cause it's Houston.
dude, don't ever call me out as astros fan again. all you punk asses gave up on this team months ago...and spent the last weeks of the season telling me how they were going to blow it. i didn't say i was giving up. i just can't watch. my stomach is tied in freaking knots.
I want to be optimistic...but as a life-long Houston sports fan, I've been down this road SO many times....granted, the Rockets did come through and did ease a lot of the pain from the Oilers/Stros....last night hurt as much as any of it...to be 1 strike away and to have FOX basically proclaiming the Stros as League Champs w/ Berkman as the player of the game is like a sick joke. I probably won't watch, but I will be rooting for the good guys...they've played their tails off against the odds.
I feel ya. I don't know if I can handle watching the next game. I've got NIN tickets so I think I'll just go to that and get text updates on my phone. The stress is killing me.
Astros win...I still believe...As painful as last night was, it is never meant to be easy... Roy O comes up big and Lidge closes it out...
My bad for misunderstanding your post. I took the "maybe I'll go see a movie" comment to mean you were giving up. Glad I was wrong. I'll be the first to admit I was down on this team at the beginning of the year. Seriously though, how could you not be when they were 15 under? Granted it was early in the season, but they dug themselves a HUGE hole that they made a nearly unprecedented climb from. I also don't think anyone would argue that this team still couldn't use another bat, my main worry around the trading deadline and the end of the season.
I'm concerned about the rest of the series. Losing a game like game 5 being 1 out away from the Series can have a psychological effect on a team. It was that stunning. That being said, in the last 10 years since 1995, 5 teams have clinched the NLCS on the road and these Astros are a strong enough team to achieve this. Astros 5 Cards 1
DONT FORGET!!! CARPENTER WAS THEIR ACE!!! HE WAS THE BEST THEY HAD AND THEY BARELY BEAT US. IT IS NOT OVER YET!!! OUR BEST GUY WILL BE ON THE MOUND!!! GO ROY!!! AND GO STRO'S!!! BEE-LIEVE!!! THIS IS "CLUTCH CITY"!!!
So far...the only thing "Clutch City" applies to is basketball. Your points do not take into account the fact that we play better at home. We will see what happens I guess. No predictions here. The Astros are impossible to predict.
Astros win game 6 by a score of 5-2. Oswalt pitches 7 strong innings and Morgan Ensberg comes out of his funk to drive in some runs. That's what had better happen, because if this thing goes to game 7, the Astros are history for this season.
W Roy's the only chance to get this thing done and for CHRIST SAKE , LETS SCORE SOME RUNS LATER THAN THE 8TH INNING If we go to game 7, it's over and that's not just being a "poor" fan or any **** like that. But the odds of Clemens being able to stop the onslaught of Cardinal momentum? No chance in hell. Simply put.
You can throw that phrase around like a Brad Lidge slider. The Rockets earned that nickname by coming through when it counted. The Astros haven't even come close. "Choke City" would be a compliment to the Astros if they lost this series... Well, I didn't start watching last night's game until the 9th inning, so the A-Train jinx is in full effect...I think I'll be watching X-Files season four tonight on DVD.
lol..... ya know what? I was thinking the same thing I'd of rather not it even been close than to lose on some **** like that
Sad to say, but I think it's over. Might as well start the Game 7 thread, Castor. Somehow, I think Roy could throw a shutout and we'd still find a way to lose Game 6. Roger pitching Game 7 is no great consolation at this point of the year and his career/life. Cards in 7, it pains me to come to this realization. It's imperative for the bats to step up and give Roy a cushion to work with. Roy always has an inning or two per game where he's on the verge of losing it. I hope the guys give him a buffer so he can go out and pitch his game. Too bad this game is pretty much do or die for both teams. I'd love to for Roy-O to bean Pujols in his first AB.
It is a well known fact that the Stros never do anything the easy way. We had never won a post season series until we beat Atlanta. Even then we could not close it out at home with a big La Roche homer breaking our hearts. But the Astros came out to play in game 5 and crushed the Braves. We did not fold then and we won't now. We got the monkey of not winning a series off of our backs last year, and this year we have to get the monkey of being 0-5 in clinching NLCS games off of our backs. The Stros never do it the easy way, so what made us think this year would be any different?
I did not sleep well last night, but I woke up with hope. We lost a gut wrenching game and lots of momentum, but they say momentum is only as good as tomorrow's starting pitcher. We have a great one. We climbed from 15 games below .500 to get to this point. We can win this game. We can help change the momentum. Where is the pep rally? Let's win it for Bidge! Win it for Lidge! Win it for Houston!
