Got a PS2? They have it for that console too.. On the 23rd, my sister came home drunk and put on her wedding dress (thats been sitting in my mother's closet for 12 years). Then we drove to Jack in the Box where she told guys she was left at the altar, then we went to my other drunk sister's house and the three of us played Rock Band. It was HILARIOUS.
I've heard that the PS2 version has been severely castrated though. They took out a bunch of functionality.
Yeah, I basically blocked the PS2 version out of my memory because it has no downloadable content and virtually no options on world tour. No downloadable content = there goes half the appeal. Now if only they would give it to me for half the price...
Yeah, unfortunately my Guitar Hero situation is all PS2. So neither of the two guitars I already had would work with the 360 Rock Band. They aren't selling individual instruments yet for Rock Band, so we are stuck playing either just guitar or just bass until that gets fixed (unless we want to buy a 360 Guitar Hero guitar solely for use with Rock Band...which just seems weird).
Yeah, I've been a little disappointed in the Rock Band guitar, although I think it will just take a little while to get used to. The thing just feels clunkier. Maybe we will go ahead and buy a GH guitar just to use with Rock Band. When GH 4 comes out, we can switch that series over to the XBox 360. On a semi-related note, we have had 3 Guitar Heros now and one Rock Band, and not a single one of them has featured an AC/DC song OR a Led Zeppellin song. Is it because the bands aren't being cooperative with the rights? Seems like both of those bands would be GREAT for the Rock Band because they feature outstanding guitar, drums and lyrics. Some of the stuff on Rock Band is fun to play with certain peripherals, but not many of the songs are lots of fun no matter what instrument you play.
I believe GH3 considered getting "One" to be a great triumph in successfully getting a song by one of the "Big 3" of Metallica, Zep, or AC/DC
didn't zeppelin just get on itunes? i suspect it'll be like guitar hero 10/rock band 5 before we see any zep songs, if that. not all the songs have great parts for all the instruments but i've never had a better time on a video game then playing drums on hard/expert. if i can somehow play won't get fooled again on expert i'll be pretty happy with myself.
How does the singing work as you get up in difficulty? Are certain songs just considered harder than others, or does each song become more picky as far as the leeway on hitting notes? I would prefer the latter.
Yeah, and apparently it really doesn't matter if you sing the actual words or just gibberish with correct pitch. I didn't know that until we started playing. In some ways, that's good for the songs that I have never heard before and I'm trying to read the lyrics as they scroll by...sometimes too fast to sing. This way if I get in trouble, I can just start humming the tune until I catch up. "One" may have been a triumph, but Metallica has really gotten on board since then, what with Enter Sandman on Rock Band, plus the Metallica DLC pack for Rock Band that includes Blackened, Ride the Lightning and And Justice for All. Plus, I read that they were considering releasing their newest single for their upcoming album exclusively through Guitar Hero 3, which would be weird. I wish some of these other bands would give it a chance.
Awesome. I like the idea of really having to nail each song rather than just having to "survive" each one as they get harder along the way.
I finally broke down and decided to get the PS2 version anyway. Only problem is, I can't find it! I went to 7 stores today with no luck. Game Stop Target Circuit City Wal Mart Fry's another Wal Mart Game Crazy Apparently they didn't release nearly as many PS2 sets as they did PS3 and 360, because I saw both of those on shelves. I'm pissed because my brain is now calculating my impulse buy and I'm having second thoughts
My g/f and I played the other night....I did the guitar and she sang...Still a lot of fun...we played for 3 hours and it didn't seem like it... I still have yet to open my Assassin's Creed or COD4...
My wife, her brother and our son played this game for several hours New Years eve. In fact, we were in the middle of a song when we realized the clock had rolled past midnight. Didn't faze us. That's how ****ing hard we rock. I'm getting much better at drums. I can do a lot songs on Hard now, but not all of them. Which kind of sucks because if we are playing a mystery set and I get a song that is very difficult on drums, we just have to quit because there is no way for me to get through it. And our band is so advanced now that if anyone is playing on Medium or Easy, we get 0 fans. I think the bottleneck on this game will always be drums. I am the only one that can even remotely survive at the Hard difficulty level, but I'm also the only one that can probably play every song on the guitar on Hard and Expert. These damned family members need to get their act together or they are so fired.
When singing, does your voice come back out of the speakers as if you're really on stage, or is it simply used as input for the game?
It depends, you can change the settings to however you want them. If you want to only hear the lead singer of the band and you not be heard at all you can, or if you want to only hear you and not the real singer you can do that also........and of course everything inbetween. I have it to where you can hear my voice, but the real singer is louder.
If anyone would be so generous as to purchase RockBand for PS3, I'll allow you to come over and play it. Only if I get the drums first.
Thanks. I'm glad they left that up to the user because I can understand why some would like it one way and others another way. Personally, I want to hear mostly my voice, if not exclusively my voice.
