Ok I just got back from the Walmart in Pearland (518 & 288) and picked up the first one the guy removed from his pallet. They had 6 large boxes, each containing 2 Rock Bands. 8 units were for the XBox 360 and the 4 were for the PS3. So 7 are left for the 360 and 4 for the PS3. I felt really, really lame for being the only one there waiting for this (with my gf at least). Well at least I got it and now I'm too sleepy to play it. Gotta get some ZZZ's for work tomorrow. Have fun for those of you that get this today (or later)!
i went to the bestbuy on richmond about 11:45 and was able to get one. there was a lot of people but they had something like 125 for just the 360, not sure about the ps3. i don't know if they ran out but lets just say if i wanted another one i could have gotten in line again and had one. i'll probably wait and play it tomorrow but the box looks awesome, i'm pretty pumped.
Kinda weird, but I met rocks_fan at WalMart. He came up and said that on this message board he was reading a guy said that Walmart had 8 of them....I was like yeah if you read that on Clutchfans that was me. Really odd! Well the good news is I got one. The bad news...my microphone appears to be defective. I've tried hooking it up through the hub, directly to the 360, and nothing works. It just keeps says to connect it. I was hoping maybe there was on/off switch or something on the mic that I was missing, but it appears it's just dead. Me and my girl played through a couple songs. First impressions is that the guitar part is way easier than both GH2 or GH3. My girl was able to get through a couple songs on medium with no problems, and she's never once finished a song on medium on GH2 or 3. The drums are going to be a lot of fun but they take some getting used to. It takes some precision to hit the pad and not the side of it. EDIT: Ok, nevermind. I got the mic working. The problem is that since the microphone doesn't have any controls on it, you have to have your regular Xbox controller hooked up as well, or if you have a wireless controller like me it needs to be turned on (doh!) otherwise it won't recognize it. So you need to have all of your instruments plugged into the 4 port hub and plugged into one of the controller slots, and then you need to have a standard controller either plugged into the 2nd slot, or your standard wireless controller turned on. I see this confusing a bunch of people tomorrow who try to use their mic for the first time. It's probably in the manual but of course I didn't bother reading that.
I made fun of GH2 when my business partner told me to get it for him for the Bar (we have an xbox 360 there) Now im hooked on it...living all those dreams of playing an instrument
Well, I got two PS3 versions last night...One for me and the kidos, and one for my friend and her kidos...I felt like a dumbass getting there at 9:20, but such is life...Needless to say, i was first and watched Ratatoille twice... However, they only had 6, 4 for 360's...So, I when I got the only PS3 version, I didn't feel like such a dumbass afterall... I tried Sam's Club this morning and they didn't get any at all, at least the one up here... I won't be playing until xmas eve...
I got mine (360) last night and hooked up everything except the mic. I like the wireless guitar from GH3 better than the wired one from RB so that's what I played with. I've never played a GH game until I bought 3 when it released a couple of weeks ago and I'm super hooked. I agree that the songs on medium are WAY easier than on GH3 which is kind of irritating. I haven't tried playing with all 5 frets yet so bumping it up to hard was too hard. I figure I'll try hard on GH3 first since I'm familiar with those songs and then go back to hard on RB when I feel more comfortable. One thing I don't care for, even though it is a minor complaint, are the way the notes look compared to guitar hero. I like the round notes better than the square notes. I do think it is pretty cool that if you are playing well the crowd starts to sing along. The drums are definitely going to be fun. I read somewhere that if you can play the drums on hard that you should be able to play drums for real. Of course, I'm not sure how accurate that is. I only played a couple of songs with the drums since Heroes was on last night and I was dead tired. I get my kids tonight for Thanksgiving so I'm sure we will play the crap out of this. I think it is going to be a really fun game.
Theres a backlash already against the song, some say its harder on hard than any GH2 song on expert (except Jordan and Six).
I love the songlist for this game and just picked it up this morning from Best Buy. My son is gonna freak when he gets it for christmas. But it is gonna be kind of hard for me to not open it first This will be the perfect game for us to play together.
