Almost here... you can redeem your keys if you were a Kickstarter backer : http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/71670-update-92-reward-redemption/

You can also pre-load the game on Steam... can't wait - I hope the game doesn't let me down. Of course I'll probably spend the entire first day trying to figure out what class to play. lol.

It's been getting good reviews. So far I've had pretty good luck with my Kickstarter games. I did Wasteland 2, which was great. I did Broken Age, which I did enjoy even though they've only finished half the game. And now this one which seems to be starting well.
    When does the pre-load unlock?

Steam says in another 11 hours. I think I had also read somewhere that it was supposed to be 9:00am Pacific.

Meant to post these earlier, but I recommend checking out these videos if you want to know more about the game systems and mechanics:

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/GaCeUrG7Bc0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

They're super long, but he goes pretty in depth about a lot of things, including some of the formulas the game uses. The game does do some things differently from more traditional RPGs (e.g., Might can still be very important to Wizards, as is Intelligence for Barbarians), so might be worth checking these out a bit before you dive into your character creation.

The guy is also uploading other videos, including some possible "good builds" for characters.

edit: And yeah, lots of reviews coming out now, all of which seem pretty positive.

Rock, Paper, Shotgun has a practically spoiler free review. Nothing about the plot, only "spoilers" is talk about the features of the game really. Their completely spoiler free summary though:

    Excited to play tonight.

I'm working from home today. If I'm get up to heat my lunch around 11am and accidentally trip and start playing Pillars of Eternity, that's not my fault, right?

This game is getting some really nice review scores.

I am convinced. Just used up my Steam Gift card that was sitting around.

Any comparisons to Divinity Original Sin from last year?

One of the review sites said Divinity Original Sin is to Pillars of Eternity as Ultima VII is to Baldur's Gate.

Divinity was turn based, lots of spells that interacted with the surroundings, limited number of companions. Both fantasy of course and I liked Divinity a lot, but this looks more like an unofficial Baldur's Gate 3 , just using a different rule set from D&D.

Not too far into it yet but the writing is really good. Story engages you right away. But damn, it's hard. Or maybe because I tried to do too many things so far without a group. Dying a lot.

Neither really. You have a group of 6 but you control them all. There is no AI.

I want to play a wizard and like the attribute bonuses of the Godlike, but I cannot get over looking like "goat boy" as a Death Godlike. This sucks. lol. Maybe I'll just go be a human.

Hehe. I like that look. But Godlike has 3 other looks to it too, so it's not all goat.

I have enjoyed it so far, though my barbarian hasn't been great.

Some things I found out about on accident:

S key will slow everything down to half speed, which is nice for microing combat with less pauses. D key will speed everything up, which is nice for sneaking or running thru explored areas.

You can hire new adventurers from the barkeeper at the inn in the first village, which you can customize as any class you want to fill your party up fast. Especially if you are playing on hard or higher, you will need to skip some encounters until you get more party members. You can always replace them with companions when you find them.

I only got to play 15-20 minutes or so :(, but I enjoyed my time. I actually spoiled myself and watched a reviewer play the same sequence, but it was actually pretty nice because my experience was pretty different (especially near the end of my session).

I ended up going with a tank chanter, which I decided to use based on some of the Youtube videos from the guy I mentioned earlier (I like summoning skeletons and phantoms). Decent enough so far, but I'm tempted to try so many of the other classes too.

I Just got it. It looks nice. Still not sure if i want to play druid or cipher (i usually play the nature characters. But i also loved mesmer in guild wars).
This game might mean i will not finish dragon age.

So not used to controlling an entire party instead of one character. I don't know how y'all do it.
