This is so ludicrous. He gives the Cards the edge in starting pitching even if as he says, 'If Mulder can't pitch, St. Louis still has Suppan and Marquis'. Give me a break, he just wants an excuse to pick against the Stros. I don't really know why I care what this Cubs homer has to say, it just irks me that's all.

He's the anti-Bartman. He better be sitting there for the rest of the post season when the Stros play at MMP. :D

Cards have more talent; Astros will score more runs, barely. A tough series, close, maybe seven games, but Astro pitching will prevail. The Astros must win this series to prevent the Cards from embarassing themselves again in a World Series. Last year, the Cards laid a colossal egg. Wow, that was weak. They simply don't deserve to represent the National League. They must be required to go home. Destiny must be fulfilled. Astros/Yankees, it simply must happen.

Im taking the Stros in 6. The Cards are the best team in baseball but I think the Stros can beat anybody right now. It would be nice if Willy T could hit a walkoff shot in this series and then send the ball to Beltran.

I was at game five of the 1980 Playoff heartbreaking loss against the Phillies...yesterday exorcised those demons. I could not be more thrilled with this team.

The other most memorable game I attended...Jose Cruz hitting a walkoff homer to beat the Cardinals on a nationally televised (NBC) game in 1986. Good omen!

    Astros in six!

Dude, this is such BS, living on the East Coast I'm going to get stuck with Game 2 of the ALCS now instead of Astros. :(

I remember last year I caught the Astros NLCS on FX. While the the Yankees Soxed duked it out on FOX.
I hope they do that again...

I spent the summer in Houston in 86, and saw the All-star game work out, and several Astros games. I take pirde in seeing the Game vs the Mets where Craig Reynolds hit a walk-off HR to win the game. That was the game where the Astros went into 1st place to stay.

But I agree that yesterday exorcised all those demons for the past. Heck, for the Braves it was catastrophe of Oileresque proportions. ;)

Stros need to get game 1 against the Cards to have the best chance of beating them. Last year when they got down to the Red Sox they couldn't right their ship. Put them in an unfamiliar situation like being down after game one and the pressure will be on them big time. They are so used to steam rolling other teams that they don't respond well when things don't go their way.

If we can beat Carpenter in game 1, I think we will win the series. I honestly don't feel that confident about us being able to beat him, but hopefully we can carry the momentum over from the huge win yesterday.

If both games are 7:00 start times each teams local market will carry the game on FOX. Whatever game is not carried on FOX will be carried on FX. That was discussed today on ESPN Radio and they said that was how FOX wanted to do things. Only way you don't get the opportunity to see both games is if you do not have FX, and live in a market showing the ALCS on FOX.
