True. But you have a majority of Muslims in the U.S. that practice a more modern peaceful interpretation of their religion being lumped in with terrorists and countries that practice backwards Sharia Law. Then to justify these claims, they cite violent quotes in the Quran to say, "See? This is a violent religion!", all the while ignoring the Biblical quotes you can find in the New Testament even that can be just as violent and discriminant towards others. Then you got Christian affiliated terrorism like the KKK in our very own U.S. and yet no rational person lumps them with the rest of Christians.

Yet actual peaceful Muslims do get lumped in with terrorists or get told that they're not making enough of a public outcry against radical Islamic practices. When it's more like, regarding U.S. Muslims, most abide by our laws (statistically more so than Christian American counterparts while also showing adaptability to conform to our culture) but are slammed if they don't decry radical terrorism enough to some people's liking on here. It's a bit hypocritical IMO.

We talk about the Age of Enlightenment but that age came as a result of royalty not wanting to have to go through a Pope to get an annulment, or the belief that the Pope should not be the ultimate human authority of a Christian God, or that the Holy Trinity is bull and all you need to recognize is Jesus, or that the Sacrament of Communion is bull, so let's change that while still worshiping Christ, or that the Virgin Mary is not important like it is to Catholics, so let's create a sect of Christianity that doesn't revere her so much, or you think priests should be able to raise a family and marry, so you create a Christian sect that allows for pastors to marry, or you're one of the nutjobs that really does think the Rapture is real and think the Catholics aren't apocalyptic enough so you go full blown Evangelical. I don't know enough of about Islam to see if they've had their own Age of Enlightenment but I believe they would have had to since there really are peace loving Muslims that live in this very nation.

If you treat your preferred religious text literally then violence is condoned and you get backwards laws. You cite that Christian religion is past its violent ways and is more reformed, but that's really only because churches cherry pick the peace loving feel good quotes from the Bible while ignoring all the rape and genocide that you can likely find just a few pages later, or if it referenced, it's used an example of what not to do.

Likewise for Muslims that don't practice a completely literal interpretation of their religion. They cherry pick the more feel good parts over the more genocidal tendency parts it or reference the more genocidal parts as an example of what not to do.

Ultimately secularism will take over and people will be able to find meaning in their life absent the worship of their own personal God. It just won't be in my lifetime unfortunately.
