If it's a lack of time holding you back, consider getting the audio books and listening to them while your driving to work or doing other stuff.
I don't know if I could enjoy paragraph after paragraph of graphic rape, murder torture, live flaying, heads on spikes etc. I just went to GOT wikki to get the background on Ramsey Snow and was depressed all day. Is the violence detailed at length (with glee?) in the books?
There are parts of graphic violence, but the books for example don't have any of the torture scenes from this season in book 3. Each chapter is presented from a different character's perspective, so later Theon recalls some of the torture that happened to him under Ramsay after the fact and there is some graphic stuff. But not like pages and pages consecutively on the topic. A lot of the content of each chapter is inner monologue and the thoughts of the characters in regards to what is happening, which is lost in the show.
I'm not far enough into the 5th book to know what happens to Theon (I'm actually exactly where the show is) but when Theon recalls his torturing, he is still a prisoner. Thats just how the books is, like he is in jail and thinking about his past tortures, and hoping that he isn't tortured again. So the previous post was not a spoiler, just that the torture scenes are described to us as memories rather and book readers see them from past rather then present.
Why can't some people understand.... This tread is about season 3. Not the books. There is a tread for that. I've read the books and agree with Crazy Dave... SMDH
someone dies. Someone thinks something. There, thats a spoiler. His comments didn't imply anything out of the ordinary.
Jesus christ, you guys are completely misunderstanding this. Somebody asked a question about the book, asking if they are too graphic after he read some of the horrible stuff on the Wikis. What Morpheus was saying is that a lot of things are told from the characters perspectives right after it happens. Rather then seeing it presented to us actively, they reflect on it. His comment doesn't give anything away, stop looking for spoilers that aren't there as excuses to get pissed.
smdh....some of you guys just don't know what a spoiler is AND REFUSE TO USE THE SPOILER TAG when in doubt. Why do you guys refuse to use the spoiler tag? You can't underestimate how easy it is to figure out a plot when someone gives you even the tiniest of clues. It might not mean something when you say it, but when we are watching in a future episode, it becomes elementary to figure out, because the spoiler steers you in the right direction. Note: this never (never) happens in other TV threads because there are no books that precede other TV episodes. Just use the spoiler tag please. How hard is that?
Show watchers, read the ****ing books or stop crying. It is nearly impossible the discuss the show without referencing the books accidentally from time to time.
quit getting defensive. If someone asks a question about the book, spoiler your answer or move to the book thread. Your refusal to do so or defend people who refuse to do so is mindboggling.
isn't that special. I seriously doubt it is that hard to know when you are saying something about a future event in the book. If you can't remember, then MAYBE YOU SHOULD REREAD THE BOOKS or stop crying. lols just use spoilers. how hard is that?
Referencing books is one thing, spoiling plots is another. If you don't know the difference, and are doing the latter, you're part of the problem in this thread about Season Three of the show. It's a valid complaint.
I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm just trying to clear up that what he posted wasn't a spoiler so you guys don't think that he just ruined the show for you.
So it's our fault that you all apparently cannot remember what did or did not happen in an episode you just watched and confuse it with a book you read years ago? It is entirely possible to discuss the show without referencing the books. Just don't reference the books. If you choose to do so, use a spoiler tag. Despite the fact that many of you love the flaunt the fact that you are cerebral book readers, you apparently have comprehension issues...starting with the fact that this thread is about the TV show and not the ****ing books
