White Walkers are their own race. They are also known as The Others. They are very difficult to kill and Samwell killed one with Dragon Glass, or obsidian. Wights are the zombie like creatures that have been raised from the dead. These are the ones that can easily be killed by fire. They both have dark blue eyes. It can be a bit confusing.
Haven't read this book, just inadvertently read something on the GoT wiki while researching something else. Did spoil it for me unfortunately, and the fact that I put spoilers on my posts are to make sure it doesn't spoil it for others like it did for me. Not trying to be smart, but like to discuss if any others have also "noticed" what I saw and if they agree or not with my hypothesis. I've only read the first book, and there are some differences between it and the tv show, so you never completely know whats going to happen. Sorry if I came out as trying to be a smartass, far from my intentions. Nevertheless, what started out as a slow season has shaped up really well. Just too bad these seasons are so short, a 15-episode season would fit better the slow style of the show.
The Wolves don't get enough screen time. Where is Ghost? Have we seen Rob's wolf in a while? Rocket River . . . ok I am a week behind
IIRC, Ghost kind of wanders off for awhile around the time Jon makes the switch over to the Wildlings, so at the moment you're not supposed to be seeing him. Robb's wolf they just haven't been showing because he's not important to the plot right now, I suppose.
I like the deviations they made from the book. GRRM has a really bad habit of introducing way too many unecessary characters and plot lines. SOS is a great book, but surprisingly the show has exceeded plot development so far.
Well, we'll...OOPS! better spoiler this: Spoiler We're gonna see one of those wolves soon enough. I like a lot of characters but his style goes from so many multiple viewpoints, so GRRM has a tendency, especially in Book 4, to ramble. His editors seem to understand his audience likes a long tale so they let him play Moses, lost for forty years in the wilderness; you'd think he, like them, would see the rising sun and say, "Look, that must be East, so I'll just head in a straight line THAT way..."
Just catching up . . . The Scene between Tywinn and Joffrey is gold. He put them eyes on Joffrey and Joff turns into a little girl Rocket River
It was an awesome scene. I was wondering how Tywin would put up with Joffrey without avoiding him altogether. Seems he's been doing that, and when forced to put up with his impudence, promptly reminds him who is really in power and what the hell is going on.
"We can arrange for you to be carried up the stairs." haha question: did Samwell really leave the Dragon Glass behind?
Actually I remember in the series season 2 that the Half-Hand told Jon Snow that Ghost had to stay so Jon commanded Ghost to stay with Samwell Tarley. Remember at the beginning of season 3 we see Ghost attack a white walker (or wight I don't remember) that was fixing to attack Sam.
Just finished reading "A Storm of Swords" last night. At 1200+ pages its about 450 pages longer than the previous two books. The first 750 pages are just "Ho Hum....lets get to some action here." The remaining 450 pages are "Holy *****....that HAPPENED?"....OVER AND OVER again. TV Viewers fear not. No spoilers here. I only state the following. The TV show is basically on page 749. The final 2 episodes will be fantastic and with so much in the book happening, it will have to bleed over into Season 4 next year.
