I'm not trying to spoil anything, but in the books Gendry is so much different. He sits on the Iron Throne and has the army of the Vale at his command with Sansa as his wife and Arya and the Hound as his personal assassins. I'd say more but I don't want to spoil anything.
Bastards aren't legitimate heirs. Jon Snow was never an heir to Winterfell. After Robb's death, claim passes to Bran and then Rickon. With them presumed dead as well, claim would pass to whoever marries Sansa, which is why Tywin married her to Tyrion, so the Lannister's would have a claim on the North. We just had a scene in this last episode where Roose Bolton gave his b*stard Ramsay his last name, thereby legitimizing him as his son and heir. Gendry has not been legitimized and with Robert Baratheon dead, he never will be. The reason he and Robert's other bastards were being hunted down and killed wasn't because they had legitimate claim to the throne, it was to hide the fact that all of Robert's bastards had black hair while all of his "legitimate" children were blonde. The only people with legit claims that we know of are Stannis if you follow the Baratheon line, and Daenerys if you follow the Targaryen line. Anyone else at this point would be taking the throne by force (or deception), not by birthright.
Spoiler Isn't there strong evidence that John Snow could actually have a stronger claim to the throne than Danny if the rumors are true that he is the legitamte son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark?
I'd spoiler that in this thread. I didn't bring up the rumor, even though it's only a rumor, for a reason.
This isn't a real spoiler, but i'll put it behind a spoiler wall just for those who don't want to hear ANYTHING from the book readers. I was wondering if the Spoiler R + L = J theory ever started for those who just watch the show. It started for the book readers by this time into the story (which is why I don't REALLY consider it a spoiler, that and the fact that it's just a theory) so I was wondering if it was sort of a universal theory or just a book reader theory.
i just want to point out two things 1. this is the show thread for people who havent read the books 2. the above speculation is fan generated and is in no way a spoiler, as far as the books have revealed now please continue to cluster**** this thread
Spoiler There is absolutely nothing to support the theory in the show. There is no tower of joy in the show to this point, so it's strictly a book spoiler.
I'll answer your question: Spoiler Where would the theory possibly come from for a show watcher? The show has barely touched on Lyanna and Rhaegar at all. It's absolutely a spoiler because it is a theory generated only book readers based on things in the book. Anyone who claims they have the theory as a show watcher is really a book reader or an online forum reader that is lying to look smart.
I'm sorry to put it in the non spoiler thread but I didn't really consider it a spoiler since the speculation is a result of the books that the TV show so far revealed.
Spoiler Its a pretty strong theory in the fact that Ned Stark has a rather positive opinion of a man who allegedly raped his sister. He must be covering up something.
how many days after the show before we stop using 'show spoilers'? Just in case Spoiler She dismissed Jorah because he was reporting to King Robert --- because he reported to "The Man who stole her brother's crown and slaughtered her family" I dunno about her hooking up with the son of that man IN HER MIND . . .her claim to the throne is more legit than his . . . Since her family had it first Rocket River
0. You aren't spoiling anything if you discuss what happened on an episode. I think it should be pretty obvious to anyone that they shouldn't come into a thread discussing the show if they haven't seen the latest episode. Although reality is you shouldn't come into this thread if you don't want a lot of the edge of surprise taken off all together.
Hope we see the Mountain suffer in the next episode. I still can't get over how the last episode went down.
