I'm fairly certain that Robert had borrowed from Tywinn before the 5 kings war. And that Tywinn borrowed from the Iron Bank after the 5 kings war kicked off
Why are some here so hung up about the Mountain? The guy has been in two scenes all series long. I didn't even remember what he looked like. He's really just a background character with the Hound and Oberyn hyping him as a badass heel. Is there something more to this? Or is this like the new Dario vs old Dario argument about a character with small forgettable part?
Most of the complaints would come from people who read the books, they are more significant characters in the books than the series. They can't show everything in the books or there would have to be 30 episodes per book.
Did the dude playing the Mountain look like he could be the Hound's OLDER brother? Did he look old enough to have been a grown man 15-16 years earlier when he killed Oberyn's sister? In the books, the Mountain is a freak. Eight feet tall, massively built but still very quick and as cold and evil as a man can be. The mention of his name put every man, woman and child on edge. He was like a living Ring Wraith from LOTR but meaner and more dangerous. And they cast a twenty-something year old, chunky power lifter-looking dude to play the character?
Is that confirmed? Everything I've read on the matter seems like speculation re-hashing the quote that turned out to be from Esme Bianco's people. And I know Emilia did nude stuff on stage for Breakfast at Tiffany's. I know Lena Headey's confirmed that she will eventually be doing a nude scene in the future. I wouldn't give up hope on seeing Khaleesi boobies again at some point.
Though it's not really shown, she still has the remnants of Khal Drogo's khalasar in her army and she's the khaleesi to them. In the books, a couple of her dothraki handmaidens have a much closer presence, so you're reminded of it more.
I think the original Mountain . . just looked more vicious [I think the one that cut the head of his horse during the tournament] Rocket River
Couldn't remember the Mountain actors, so here you go: Season 1: Season 2: Season 4: The guy in Season 1 looked best imo, especially when you account for Mountain being a legend and having to be middle aged. Him and the guy in Season 2 had a good way of making the Mountain look a tad mysterious and deep, whereas the guy this season just looks like a fat/giant bully with no character and way too young.
That's because he's only 25 years old! Vice did a piece on the "Strong Men" of Iceland. The bit about "the mountain" starts at 12:30 <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/8A7woRoVwyM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
^^ It seems stupid to cast a 25 year old guy that is supposed to be old in the books. Don't know what they were thinking.
The new "Mountain" is the right type physically. Age wise, the casting makes no sense at all. I guess there are few people that size and physical enough to do things required at an appropriate age. I guess it was too much to add age make up or something?
Scheduling conflicts, he's a pretty busy actor. The Hobbit is a big time movie he prioritized around the same time. He's also in the Spartacus series around the same time.
Ah, I gotcha. That's a shame, really thought he was the most menacing of the group of actors playing the Mountain.
