agree 100% dude is there just not giving a crap about any of it really. seems like he finds it even silly to begin with. he does a great job.
No matter how small it is, I'm going to have to agree with the show only watchers here for the most part. Much of their hyper sensitivity is born from the fact that one small spoiler often can quickly turn into five or 10 more to the point where every other post has a spoiler tag. It gets out of hand quickly with people replying to each other's spoilers and we've watched it happen every season leading up to this one. There is really no excuse to spoil in this thread when there is another one going on in conjunction with this one where you can freely post whatever you want without offending others. I think it's just common courtesy. I mostly read this thread for the fun of watching members speculate and theorize about what will happen next as well as to see the reactions to show events that I loved from the books.
I don't think the example you use is a good one. The trailers for season 4 showed a lot of clips of a guy fighting, and you find out in the first episode who it is. Even if you didn't, the first episode already revealed him as a famous eccentric warrior prince with a vendetta. Lastly, as CJ also said, the episode titles are spoilers too.
I don't mind book readers answering questions in here, the thing that is annoying is seeing posts lecturing tv show watchers by saying "oh by the end of this season you'll find out". It's not a spoiler but it is pretentious and it seems like the book readers can get like that (not all of you) in here to the show watchers since they seem to know all the answers already.
I can't wait until The Winds of Winter is released so I can read it ASAP and come back to this thread and spoil the next two seasons. Hahaaaa
Just here to summarize my thoughts: -I don't mind book readers posting in this thread. We're all free to post where we choose, I didn't intend to sound like we should ban those. -However, if a reader chooses to answer a question, he/she should be careful with their choice of words. I don't mind at all readers answering a question that would have to deal with the past, but saying "Later in the book, ____" type stuff is annoying. -We all like answers, it's a humongous show. I myself have gone here: http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/Game_of_Thrones_Wiki in order to find more detail into characters. It only goes into what the show has shown so far, so no future spoilers, but it also dives into detail about a character's history. -It's not fair for book readers to post "Well, it's pretty obvious about ____." The Shae explanation for instance. Anyone who doesn't read the book would think (in my opinion) that she had genuine feelings for Tyrion. It is not fair for readers to come in and say "She's a w**** who will do anything for money." and think that should be obvious to exclusive show watchers. And the fact that a couple posters come in and basically say that person was right and we'll find out why by the end of the season is most definitely a spoiler. Stuff like that should be reserved for the spoiler thread.
The Shae thing . . . . imo . . . i will chalk up to bad a acting because she never came off an genuine to me. She seemed to more brat/yanking Tyrion's chain. Her demeanor seems to false and manipulative, emotional blackmail. It is interpretation to an extent. *shrug* Rocker River
But you had the chance to read the books. So obviously, you're gonna be more keen on things to pick up on.
lol I said "The shows writers along with HBO's previews already do too much spoiling themselves " So why are you telling me what I already know .. anyway it's just one example but you could just tell by the reaction on the board that he would be more than just a main character but that he was also a favorite of many book readers , that's pretty much a spoiler and gives me pretty good foreshadowing ,along with the previews , about how this trial will turn out
Well the actress playing Shae is probably just extrapolating her past acting gigs on Shae's character.
The thing is, I think that spoiler was a mis-spoiler. I've been biting my tongue to not get into this spoiler mess, but I don't think Shae's motivations in the book are clear and some posters are applying their own interpretation of the book and then telling non-readers that's how it is in the book, when that's not necessarily the case at all. I don't think this a-w****-is-a-w**** interpretation of the book is even right, or not complex enough to do the story justice. And the show has gone and done something different with it besides. I don't think show-watchers should let this revelation color how they interpret the show.
SNAP Also, watching the 'Anatomy of a scene' bit on the GoT youtube page really gives a better depth of the whole trial. Nothing spoilerish at all, although I still wish they hadn't named the 8th episode 'the mountain and the viper', makes it too damn obvious. Also, I recall they even showed a tiny bit of the fight in the previews of season 4.
Why quote the show title, if you consider it a spoiler? I for one don't even pay attention to the episode titles, and I would not have been spoiled if I hadn't read your post.
In that case I'm really sorry for that. I assumed it was prior knowledge already, because it was already discussed a few pages back right after the show aired. I'm sorry for the semi-spoiler.
My interpretation of Shae doing anything for money reflects what I have seen in the show, not the book. It was a simple observation and my opinion on why she did it in the show. I agree with Rocket River in that she was a spoiled whiny b**** in the show. If you read back when Shae was introduced in the show, everyone disliked her. Now why is everyone shocked? So again, in the show, she acts like a self absorbed w**** who is out for herself. I won't compound on further opinions and comments in regards to the books until the show plays out. I have no idea how it will play out as it can be very different than the books.
Watching Ep 406 right now. Pretty neato how they included the Titan of Braavos into the animated show opener.
Because there are 5 books written. Not every book readers has read all 5. Personally, I've read the first 3 and barely started the 4th. If I go to the book readers thread, there's no guarantee I won't be spoiled on things I have yet to read that others have. Comprende?
