It likely would have been a better ball game if the Giants didn't botch those two TDs. However, there's no guarantee that both of those TDs would have been scored had the first one been scored by the Giants. Cowboys still probably would have won. It's ironic that the Cowboys seemed to be beating themselves with stupid penalties in the first half and the Giants end up being the ones who truly helped beat themselves with stupid mistakes in the second half while the Cowboys persevered. Last season, it was the Cowboys who weren't as good as they were talked up to be. This season...the Giants are kind of wearing that tag.
Still sour about the Cowboys beating the Eagles last week? You dont get to 8-1 by luck. All of our wins, except for the come from behind win against the Bills, have been by 10 points or more. So it's not like we are barely getting by these "nobody" teams.
I am not sour. I am just stating the facts. The Cowboys have beat an overrated Giants team twice. An underachieving, sub-.500 Eagles team. The 2 worst teams in the league in Miami and St. Louis. Two more sub-.500 teams in Minnesota and Chicago. The only decent team they played, the Patriots, throttled them. I respect the 8-1 record, it's better than the Eagles by far, but I will respect them more if they do well the second half of the season, facing considerable better talent.
NEXT {GAME OF THE CENTURY} GREEN BAY @ DALLAS (NOV 29) NEXT AFTER NEXT {GAME OF THE CENTURY} PITTSBURGH @ NEW ENGLAND (DEC 9) Any takers???
the patriots' opponents w/l record stands at 39 and 42. minus the cowboys and colts and you're at 24 and 40. not exactly an overwhelming schedule. opponent win loss record, while not meaningless, is fairly insignificant at this point. as already mentioned, you don't get to 8-1 by luck.
They have beat the good teams they have faced though. What good team has Dallas faced besides New England. New York is not even being talked about as a good team in the NFC, it is all about the Cowboys and Pack. Luckily they play in 2 weeks.
Look let's just end all of this, if they reach the Super Bowl then we know I was wrong. If they don't then we know I was right.
The quality of the win for the Patriots is better than any other team in NFL. 1. They took down 2 undefeated teams Dallas (5-0) and Indianapolis (7-0) Which to me is better than beating a handful of .500 to borderline playoff teams. 2 If you were to rank the top 5 today in any order NE Indy Pittsburgh Dallas GB By the end of the season New England will have defeated 2 or most likely 3 of the top 5 teams in the NFL. Can anyone else say the same thing about their team? Face no matter what the Dallas Cowboys play in a weaker conference against weaker opponents. They are the Colorado Rockies/Cleveland Caveliers of the NFL. Bottom line is that the Cowboys cannot play with the BIG BOYS.
i would agree with you in that the cowboys do play in the weaker conference such as the NL in baseball and the east in the nba... but to say they can't play with the big boys is laughable. 11/19/06 vs Indy - W 21-14 10/14/07 vs NE - L 48-27 (a game which they lead 24-21 w/ 5 min left in the 3rd) i'd say they can play with them.
I will agree with what was said in another thread. Their schedule proves they are better than 8 of the 9 opponents played thus far.
7 of the 8 actually, since they have already thrashed the Giants twice, and have not yet thrashed the Eagles or Skins twice.. But they will.
What other good team besides Indianapolis has faced New England, you cant say the Cowboys, because you are saying the cowboys is a bad team. San Diego (5-4)? Washington (5-4)? Cleveland (5-4)? Im not saying that the New England is a bad team, actually I think they are the best in the NFL, but your logic, its not saying that.
