I feel the same. One part of me wants to get it, the other part of me wants to be practical. I might be forced to get a PS3 in the summer though because I sold my slim PS2 and want to be able to play NCAA Football online.
RC Cola (or anyone else): Maybe you can answer a question for me. Is there anywhere that you can still buy the 60GB PS3?
Probably just eBay or places like that (probably all for $600+ too). FWIW, I think there will probably be a price cut for one or both systems by the end of the year. Probably several more months before either gets a price cut though (both probably want to ride the wave of GTA IV and other upcoming games).
Ok, that being the case, is there a significant difference between the hardware emulation in the 60gb and the software emulation of the 80gb? I still have a few PS2 games that I would like to play through (I haven't really played anything other than sports games in the past 3 years. So, I'm currently playing through GTA: San Andreas, and I want to play Metal Gear Solid 3 also). I'm so conflicted on what to do right now. When Fall rolls around, I know I'm going to want to play football games online, but I only have my old, large-version PS2. So, do I buy a slim one, so I can play online, or put that money toward a PS3... Then the other factor is price: it would be ideal for me to get the 60gb (if it was still around) because of the lower price and backwards capability. Spending the extra $100 for the 80gb seems pointless considering the amount of games I play, but the 40gb does not have backwards capability. Sigh...
The 80GB PS3s are like 80% compatible with PS2 games, or something like that. However, some major titles aren't playable or have some issues with playback. You can check to see if a specific game has any issues at this link: http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/CompatibleStatus GTA:SA seems fine, although MGS3 has some issues (might still be playable though?). I guess I should warn you that these may not be entirely accurate. There was a horrible bug I encountered with Chrono Cross (PS1) on my 60GB PS3, but it wasn't mentioned at the site. Might just be an rare exception.
Me too, I really don't play console games except sports games and GTA games. I play my FPS's on the pc etc. I'm confronted with waiting for GTA4 to come on on PC or go and get a PS3. Sad thing to me is that if I go get a PS3 the only thing I want on it is that 1 game. Nothing else has ever made me want one.
Exactly. I can literally count the number of games I'll likely be playing for the next 2-3 years on one hand: GTA: San Andreas (playing through now). Metal Gear Solid 3 Sports games, most likely being NCAA Football and Madden (those keep me busy for at least 4 months out of the year). GTA 4 The new Metal Gear Solid on PS3. If only the PS3 wasn't so damn expensive, it would be an easier choice to pick one up. But hey, who am I kidding? I'm going to end up getting one because GTA 4 may literally end up being the best video game I have played in my entire life...but I'm still not going to be happy about dropping well over half a grand...
There are basically two games I can see wanting to play at all any time soon. Halo 3 and GTA4. The new GTA game looks awesome and if the 360 was a bit cheaper, I'd have got one by now. But I don't really want to throw that much money into a system just for two games. One other thing I want to look at is, when I get GTA4 I want to buy the game overseas. They restricted some of the content in the game for the Australian version because we dont have an R rating for games. It wouldnt change a great deal at all, but if Im gonna spend so much on a console just for this game...I want the full deal!

GT Review http://www.gametrailers.com/player/33327.html 9.8/10 I was just amazed while watching the review, best review yet. I am so pumped.
um Storm Surge, did you purposely mis-quote that article to be a biased PS3 dick? I suggest you click the link you provided yourself, and re-read it the actual quote was: "It can be distracting, especially during high speed chases, and the PS3 version isn't entirely immune from it, but it's not a game killing problem." pretty sh!tty on your part if you did it on purpose, and I find it hard to believe that you did it on accident lol
Haha this game is amazing! I'm pretty sure you heard about going to bars and drinking. But the fun starts is when you get out! You are actually drunk. The game does a great job of making you "feel drunk". Driving back home was hilarious. I was in an 18 wheeler swerving through the lanes and hitting all the cars. Cops tried to pull me over for drunk driving. Another little funny thing I did was start a fight, run in front of a police car and let the other guy hit me first. Cops come out, arrest the dude and placed him in the back of his car. The free roam online is a blast. It's exactly what I wanted in GTA multiplayer.
I quoted from someone else that posted those on a forum, I didn't copy and paste from the article just another guy's post.
