We should definitely have some games of this on the 360 once it releases. I see the 360 gamertag list is on the first page right now. Just add your name to that list if you're not on it. We'll get some games going.
Looks like this game alone is going to make me get a PS3. I wish the PC version would come out this early. I'm running dual 8800's in SLI on my pc....what a waste.
I don't think it has much to do with reliability; there doesn't seem to be much different with the Xbox Live infrastructure that would make it more reliable, especially in comparison to the differences in costs (EX: not like every game uses dedicated servers). If anything, XBL has actually been somewhat less reliable here recently (see the issues they had over the holidays, although I'm guessing/hoping this was just a one-time screwup on their part). The $50 a year seems to go towards the extra features that XBL provides. In every game, things like in-game messaging (voice chat or just sending/reading text messages), custom soundtracks, achievements, etc., are all supported (IIRC), while the same can't be said for PS3 games. You can play games online with your friends, send/receive messages, view leaderboards, etc., but some features either aren't there or aren't as well-supported (some games may support voice chat and/or a form of achievements, but not all of them will). This was especially evident early on, when PS3 games rarely supported some of these features. Some games didn't even have an online mode at all, like some Tony Hawk game IIRC. Along with that, there is more content on the XBLM than the PSN. I think PSN probably has better original content (especially if you want to count Warhawk, GT5, Wipeout, etc., although I wouldn't), but I'd have expected a lot more content on the store at this point, especially in the PS1 downloads department. I guess it is sort of expected that Sony will more or less offer the same features (plus maybe some newer, better ones) when Home is released. Their media download service could also help in the area of downloadable content. Unfortunately, both services probably won't be ready until 2020. Yeah, there has been a lot of speculation about the possibly inclusion of Blu-ray, but no actual decisions have been made AFAIK. As mentioned by Storm Surge, I'm not really sure it would really make the 360 more attractive to those wanting a gaming device and a Blu-ray player though. Just guessing here given the circumstances, but the 360 with a Blu-ray drive would probably cost (considerably?) more than a PS3. Might even make more sense to buy a 360 and then buy a Blu-ray player separate. And it has probably been closer to about 6 months since they "fixed" the red rings problem, at least AFAIK. It peaked around last summer with the waranty extension (mid-to-late July IIRC), and I don't think the 360s with the 65nm CPUs started hitting store shelves until later in the Fall. I don't think it has technically been completely "fixed," but that move did reduce the likelihood of having RROD problems by quite a bit. Can't remember if they've gone to 65nm with the GPU as well yet. That should help out a lot as well.
No. Every 360 game is coming to the PC anyway Where are you even getting the more support and better online stuff from?
I want to buy a PS3 - but I really want to play Bioshock and with GTA IV on the 360 I may have to bite the bullet and go with Microsoft (if the red ring deal is really fixed).
Bioshock is already available for downlo-i mean purchase for the PC My college issued laptop can run it just fine
It is a very safe assumption that if EA takes over TAKE 2 Bioshock along with Bioshock 2 will be released on the PS3.
Have they publicly stated this, or is it just an assumption since they haven't announced a PC version yet? I haven't really followed the development of Fable 2, but I kind of assumed a PC version was pretty much a sure-thing. Of course, it would be similar to Mass Effect, Gears, and probably GTAIV (announce the PC version shortly after the release of the console version). It almost seems like a very safe assumption that BioShock 2 will be released on the PS3 regardless of whether EA takes over Take Two. It would make sense to release the original BioShock in that case, but I figured they would have announced the port by now.
I would think that the two would be pretty identical, with maybe a (slight) edge going to the 360. However, last I heard, extra content was going to be an issue. Isn't the 360 going to get some sort of exclusive DLC? And the MP isn't entirely 'uncharted'. A game called Saints Row actually dipped into this a little bit (with different modes). Saints Row II is supposed to be coming soon for both systems, I think. Naturally, though SR MP was fun, I expect Rockstar to put together something much better for GTA IV.
"there is no current plan for releasing it on the PC", but who knows? They might port it over later .... EA better not destroy NBA 2K..........
Yeah, I'm guessing they'll be trying to push that pretty soon. It would be nice to get some more details since we still don't know what it is. They were kind of hinting that it would be like the GTA Stories games that came out for the PSP and PS2 IIRC. I think they confirmed that they are working on (exclusive?) DLC for the PS3 as well, although I'm guessing it won't be as complex. Well, unless Sony paid Rockstar $50M. Yeah, that kind of sounds like the standard denial that the PR guys have to put out when they're asked about things the company can't publicly comment on yet. Pretty sure that happened with one of the games I mentioned earlier. In any case though, you're right that no one knows for sure (except for maybe Lionhead, MS, etc.), and we'll just have to wait and find out.
IGN has reviewed this game http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/869/869381p1.html 10s across the board in every category. PS3 version runs smoother, doesn't have frame rate problems of the 360, and has doesn't have as many loading times as the 360.
He may have skimmed the review and misread the following quote: He probably skipped over the "and" and read something like this: I did the same, but I re-read it when I saw the other comment about framerate.
I'm actually opposite. I've never really been into any of the GTA's and didn't care about this one until this thread popped up a few weeks ago, which got me interested, so I researched it more. Within two weeks, I went and reserved it. Everything I've read and seen since has REALLY impressed me.
I'm not surprised. The GTA franchise is so big that they have the luxury of saying "if it's not ready then we're going to take 6 more months and make sure it's ready". That's exactly what they've done. They also don't say, "well, we just fit this new feature into the next game". Hell no, if they've got a great idea then they're going to put it in this game. Rockstar has proven to me that they no what the **** they're doing. You could have told me GTA IV was coming out and not release a plot, screens, previews, etc. and I would still be picking it up first thing on Tuesday. I probably won't be at Gamestop at midnight, but I'll definitely be picking mine up the next morning when the Best Buy close to my house opens.
Man, this game is so crazy. It definitely lives up to the hype. I've done like maybe 4 missions and the rest of the time was free roam. Theres just so much you can do. I climbed onto the top of this roller coaster and there was a pigeon chilling on the railings. I don't know, sometimes its the little things that boggle my mind. You actually fly out the front window if you crash at high speeds. And we you blast somebody with a shot gun, it really makes you feel that. Honestly, I don't know how somebody can't get excited for this version of GTA. I'm sure even the folks that dislike GTA would love it.
