No, Criterion mentioned on their Burnout podcast that Sony was fine with allowing PS3 owners play with 360 owners, but Microsoft actually had a problem with it. They mentioned that they had to actually do more work to keep it from happening.
man I have to get a PS3 or 360. I loved the past games and played them all thru. I still only have the PS2 though.
dskillz more or less covered this already, but this is more of a political issue than a technical issue. Right now, Sony and MS haven't really come to any agreement that would allow for this sort of thing, even though it is more than possible to implement on a technical level. Maybe the eventual PC release will allow for online play with 360 or PS3 users, although I'd assume it would be either-or instead of both (PC/360 or PC/PS3). Actually, I'd assume Rockstar wouldn't bother to implement it at all, but if they did, it would probably be limited to 2 out of the 3 platforms. That's generally the case for like 90% of the multiplatform games. Some games are more or less the same on both platforms, and a few are slightly better on PS3 (Burnout, Oblivion, I think DMC4, etc.). Haven't really kept up with impressions from the 360 and PS3 versions of GTA IV (Rockstar hasn't even shown off the PS3 version until just recently), but they're supposed to be roughly identical in terms of graphics and frame rate. That said, I've seen devs and previewers say that before even though the final product painted a different picture. The 360 was the lead SKU for GTA IV, so I'd assume it would be the safe bet if you were wanting the version that was smoother and more refined. Not to say the PS3 version will be crap, but all else equal, that would probably be the way to lean. Everyone would need the same version (either 360 or PS3). I'm guessing that there will probably just be a GTA 360 CF group and a GTA PS3 CF group. If you have a choice, the 360 group should have a lot more people to play with. Just going by the install bases for each console, it would be hard for the two groups to be roughly equal, let alone more people with the PS3 version.
Nothing confirmed for the US as far as any GTA IV PS3 bundles. Or GTA IV 360 bundles for that matter, unless I'm mistaken. Europe is another story, as I mentioned earlier in the thread.
If yall were going to buy one system specifically for this game, what would it be? considering price, accessories prices and prices for online subsciption, also included DVD watching and future of games being released.
well PS3 has built-in blu-ray, free online, accessories are a wash. Based on your criteria, PS3 is definitely the way to go.
LOL, I'm about to do the same thing. I've never really been into the previous versions of the series but this game sounds unreal.
From what I have read, Microsoft's online service outshines that of Sony's but I have not personally compared either one of them. Now I have two friends, one uses the PS3 and the other the 360 and both use online game play. Let's just say I have heard more complaining from the PS3 owner than the 360, in fact I have only heard positive things about the 360's online play from that friend.
Well, it's only $50 a year, which doesn't amount to much...and from what I understand, the 360's online stuff is much more reliable than Sony's. Edit: Basically, you get what you pay for.
The 360 is a much better buy, more games, more support and much better online play. The PS3 does have a blue ray player though, but even X-box is getting one of those as an add on. X-Box 360> PS 3 DD
I thought that xbox forgot about blu-ray add-on since it would cost too much money and they would have to charge like 300 bucks for it. I play PS3 online all the time and I have no problems with it, it lets you play online, lets you have friends, send messages, chat etc. I don't care about anything else. I don't want to pay 50 bucks either because that's another game right there.
Looks like Blue Ray 360 is still a rumor.... And the red rings problem with the 360s has been solved for about a year. DD
