...I'm not going to buy this game at the moment, but the commercial makes me want to see a movie adaptation. Is there some fan movie out there made from pieces of the game? I know it's early, but being an old school gamer, I know that there are guys with no life that have already mastered the game and probably have the skills to screen capture and edit a nice little fan movie together.
OMG I can't wait for this game. And we're about to have to take a patient to Temple. Ugh. I won't be sleeping till around 3 am. This is going to suck.
Did you go into this actually expecting amazing graphics? Graphics are probably the last thing Rockstar is concerned with.
They aren't bad or anything, Just thought they would be amazing. Great improvement in gameplay over all previous GTA's though. I love playing this game.
Half the fun for me is obtaining new guns and vehicles for the first time. Like sure, I could type in the code and get a tank or something, but a lot of the satisfaction comes from actually getting to one the first time.
Story to tell! I got into a huge police chase and my car was busted up and shot up. Anyway I launched off of a hill in the road and that set my car on fire. I knew I had to jump out or die, so I pressed the button to get out the car. As I did that the car landed and started to flip. Just as I got out the door, the car still fliping over and over again, it blew up, sending my corpse flying into the side of a building like a rag doll, hitting signs on the way down until it landed on an concrete slap one story up. THAT is a smile on the face moment! I really like the way you can aim your weapons in this game.
This is the type of stuff I really love about the GTA series. I don't think there has been any other game that has ever made me laugh or smile so much during random moments. This is a San Andreas vid, but seriously, there are no other games where something like this can happen: <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CNSOZ5Hyt1A&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CNSOZ5Hyt1A&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
Lol that's hilarious! It certainly isn't scripted, because I got out of Roman's house and everybody was minding their own business. I did see a hot dog stand and got me a hot dog though. This game rocks!
OMG. The anticipation is killing me! UPS: 05/01/2008 OUT FOR DELIVERY BRYAN, TX, US I want my PS3 and GTA IV!!! It's being delivered to my sister's house too not mine which is like 5min away. Hope they call right a away.
http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?no_d2=1&sid=08/05/01/147224 "The watch-dog group Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) has set its sights on the rating of GTA IV. Primarily because a player can drive drunk in the game. MADD released a statement saying that 'Drunk driving is not a game, and it is not a joke. Drunk driving is a choice, a violent crime and it is also 100 percent preventable.' MADD also is asking Rockstar Games to consider removing GTA IV from distribution 'out of respect for the millions of victims/survivors of drunk driving.' Rockstar replied to MADD by saying 'we have a great deal of respect for MADD's mission, but we believe the mature audience for "Grand Theft Auto IV" is more than sophisticated enough to understand the game's content.' As expected, Jack Thompson is making his usual attention-whoring remarks by comparing GTA IV to the polio virus." My story of the day: Spoiler I jacked a car, kicked the lady out, get in...when I realize that there was a dude slumped to the side, passed out, in the passenger seat. I had police chasing after me, so I just had to keep going with the guy in my car. After about 5-10 seconds, he wakes up, realizes whats going on, and flies out the car while Im speeding. Random stuff like that is awesome.
Man, there are some epic gun battles in this game. I think I just took out 50-60 on a single mission. One thing I like is that if you're on a mission and you take somebody along, there's always dialog in the car. But if you fail the mission and try again, you get an alternative dialog. If you're a completist, it kind of makes you want to fail the mission the first time just so you can hear the secondary dialog.
