Could someone link me to the forum where the major "freeze" issue is being discussed? I would like to keep up with the latest info before I purchase it and hopefully hear something about Rockstar patching it.
I'm sure it is being discussed in a number of places, but as always, I'd probably recommend NeoGAF for keeping up on major gaming issues. I'm not even really sure there is a difference between early or later models (unless you count the 60GB models in Europe). Might be something to look into if people find out exactly what is causing the problem (and if there are big enough differences between PS3 models), but I'd rather wait until we figure out more on what's wrong.

I had a roommate like that. The first thing he did when he got home after buying a game was to get on the internet to look up cheat codes. My reaction was the same as yours. I did do a "test" and if you use the codes, it prevents you from getting some achievements.

that sucks. i like cheat codes but i hate it when people use them as soon as they get the game. are you having any trouble getting online? well thats if youre a ps3 user im sure if youre an xbox user those xboxlive servers are running well only major titles on ps3 have good servers like cod4, its lag free gtaiv is supposed to be EPIC and i can't even connect i kinda have a bad feeling about the servers NBA 2K8 SERVERS- LAG THE DARKNESS SERVERS (MADE BY 2K)- LAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGG GTA IV (ROCKSTAR/2K) ????? THIS IS JUST A RUMOR There is word about a firmware update from Sony coming out tomorrow to fix the freezing issues. Again, I don't even believe it, DON'T GET YOUR HOPES UP TOO HIGH
You guys are driving me nuts. I hope mine works fine. I ordered a new 40Gb system, haven't heard of any problems with those versions yet. Also, I am going to study my ass off when I get off work tomorow morning ar 8am. Then taking my final exam (I have till Fri) before my PS3 arrives. I am going to waste quite a few hours...well till my gf gets off work....on that game. lol.
