Why the Hell are they pulling him/Is his pitch count really that high?I mean I know you want lefty vs. lefty,but...this is BS!
This is strictly a strategy move... lefty-lefty. And, I don't like it... although I said I would never question Garner again. Gallo hasn't thrown a pitch since last Sunday, and Walker hits GOOD left-handed pitching with regularity.
What the hell the is Garner doing !?!? Backe just schooled Eckstein and Edmonds...gave up a measly single to Pujols...and that earns him a done day?
why not let backe at least pitch throug the rest of the inning? his stuff still looks pretty decent... i'm failing to see why we're going to our pen so early when backe has been pitching so well.
does gallo even get lefties out? he's the lefty specialist who sucks against lefties, right? backe just made it through the heart of the order at 81 pitches. keep him in and let him go until the top comes back up and then go to wheeler or someone good. i know everything garner touches turns to gold but this is weird.
The thing that drives me crazy... he allowed a hit to probably the best hitter in the game... big freaking deal. There are 2 outs, its only the 6th inning... let the guy try to get out of it. Even if Walker gets a base-hit, Pujols likely doesn't score... ARRGH! I just want to be proven wrong so badly right now. (thank you Gallo... )
well we got the out but i'd rather save the bullpen as long as possible if our starter is in relative cruise control. appearances by people not named wheeler and lidge should be minimized.
I don't care if he got the out, Backe should be out there for the 7th to pitch to the weak part of that lineup. He was dealing. Quit over-managing when you don't need to.
That pitching change may have been the first time this entire BBS was uninamous in declaring their support for one side of the argument. But, we're all wrong in the end. Now, we've got Qualls up ready to throw... Wheeler is good for at least 2 innings today... and our offense (Lane) should look for more balls to juice.
