Helluva game... I watched it at the Joe's Crabshack on the Riverwalk in San Antonio... I was rather dissapointed that there were only two other Astros fans there in a packed house.
Yeah, just rub it in. A couple of things I learned today that I thought were interesting. 1. For the first time in their history, the Cards have not lost 4 games in a row all season long. Hopefully, that changes tonight! 2. That ump has a sketchy past... from the chronicle: Cuzzi has an odd history. He failed to get a minor-league job three times after attending umpire school. He finally got a shot at the big leagues as a fill-in ump. But in 1993, the National League fired Cuzzi. Cuzzi navigated through the minors again, then was hired by Major League Baseball in 1999 after more than 20 regular umps resigned during labor negotiations. So why would an umpire with such a checkered and unimpressive history draw such a prestigious assignment?
Anybody have a clip / torrent of the game-ending double-play? I'd like to save it on my computer to use as a screensaver.
Awesome! If we win today, that's going to be such a great celebration! I was there for the last game 4, and that was ridiculously cool - but that was nothing like this one will be.
Hey, think of is this way: that's two more fans than you would normally find in San Antonio. We're gaining bandwagoners!
Being in this position makes me nervous as hell. We have to approach this game as if it is the last in my opinion. If we have to go back to St. Louis, then it's going to be very difficult to win there again. Pettitte needs to have the game of his life and we need to crack Carpenter. I don't think the Astros want to go back to St. Louis and they have to understand that they are going to be in a very tough position if they do regardless of who is pitching. One win away and it feels like a million miles. I just hope being up 3-1 hasn't gotten to our heads and we come out with the killer instinct to finish this thing once and for all. St. Louis would love nothing more than to take this back to St. Louis with the intention of finishing us off. Please make this happen. Its been 44 years of no World Series and I've spent 29 years of my life waiting for this to happen. You've gotta believe this is our time! We could never, ever be in a better position than this to advance. Surf
Thanks, Miguel! You made my day. Somehow fitting that the game that started with a good double-play ended with a GREAT double-play.
Sound isn't all that great for some reason. It'st he same that I've used for all the other clips though, wonder why it doesn't sound as good. :/
I'm at work and using headphones, and one channel work and the other is like a hissing noise. Still awesome though, just take the hissing earphone off
Damn it! I managed to not get my hopes up too high until now! Please, please, please don't let me down! Do it tonight Andy!!!!!
great point, we need to play like its our backs against the wall... essentially, without our crowd, it will be difficult to win in St. Louis, lets make sure no one ever plays a game in Busch Stadium again...
59 of the 69 teams who have lead 3-1 in a best of 7 series have gone on to win... and of the 10 who lost none of them had a final 3 game rotation of Pettitte, Oswalt and Roger freaking Clemens. I'm all for not looking ahead, but I am also not worried about us finishing them off either. If the Cards beat Pettitte, Oswalt and Clemens in a row, they deserve to be NL champs... with that said they have no chance
They beat all three of them in a row, right after the all star game. I don't want to count chickens....I would LOVE a blowout. DD
Totally agree. If they get one, they are totally capable of an offensive explosion. People forget that last year, while we had Munro and Clemens as opposed to Oswalt and Clemens in the final games, we got closer to winning the Munro game than the Clemens game. And he struggled again Saturday. I want to end this thing today - take no chances.
The most priceless parts are the closeup of Everett on the reply where he clinches his fist, and then the close up of Lidge and then Berkman running over t him and them doing the dumbest celebratory embrace EVER! HAHAHA! I love it!
