Remember in 1985 when Don Denkinger blew that call in Game 6 of the Series and the Cards completely lost their heads and just folded in Game 7?

    Hopefully that will happen tomorrow.

That's right Jason, the umpire was OUT TO GET YOU!!

Blaming a loss on umpiring is weak. If you disagree with balls and strikes you don't show up the ump by arguing with him on the field, even if it's during your at bat. I'm sure the Astros weren't too happy with all the high strikes that were getting called on them, but none of them got in the ump's face over it.

Astros vs. White Sox....now that sounds like an interesting WS for once, to me at least.

It's simply a case of the Cards getting very frustrated by the Astros' constant hustle and 'gind-it-out' style of playing, which the Cards are not used to playing; they remind me so much of the Pheonix Suns.

Well Edmond's version of the way he got thrown out was bull.

They showed the replay of him arguing and you can CLEARLY see him drop the F-bomb after he had been warned. As soon as the bomb was dropped, he was ejected.

SportsCenter showed a screen cap of the last out. Mabry was clearly out.

Even the pro-Cardinals Fox commentators were saying that Edmonds clearly uttered a bad word, and even said "you could read his lips".

    So ya, Edmonds is lying.

What a game...I missed the beginning as stupid Hobby Airport only had the Patriots game on...I asked if they could change it but they said the City of Houston controls what airs thru its contract with CNN...

Anyway, my plan landed around 5:40 in big D and then I watch the remaining part of the game...Un-freakin'-believable...Fox showing TL telling the ump it was BS and then showing Edmonds calling the ump a p*ssy, priceless...

One more game baby...one more game...

I'm not sure how much more of this I can take. I had to ask everyone at the bar my softball team goes to after games not to talk about anything beyond what may or may not happen tomorrow night. I just can't hear any talk of the next step until it's official.

I am going to be very unfocused at work tomorrow.

Hmm, not sure how you got that from my post....

I just don't think that what Edmond's was quoted saying in the article posted a few posts earlier, is completely accurate. Anyone who watched the game saw him get pretty heated, pretty quickly. I don't doubt that the ump had a few choice words as well.

I don't have a thing against the guy, not sure why this is an issue. I just said in my first post that maybe in a game of this importance, in the 8th inning, that he could have showed a little better control. Especially with it only being the 2nd strike in the count. Either way, the Astros won and the Cards can suck it. I'm sure we can agree on that.

Not in this situation. Drop "F" bombs, argue balls and strikes or say that the Umps are cheating and you get thrown out. Cardinals frustration, not Umps in this case.

 <<< smilie gets so freaking old.

Hey weakfromtoday - you regret not going to the game with free tickets?? :p It was GREAT.

I was at the game, so i missed out on the discussion. Here's my thoughts:

    1. LaRussa did the Cards NO favors by arguing the way he did. It essentially left the home plate ump with a zero tolerance mentality...and that got Edmonds tossed. The LaRussa song and dance did them no good. Edmonds says he didn't cuss...it sure looked like he threw an "F" bomb, to me.

    2. Freaking Adam Everett. Been a long time since the Astros have a SS with that kind of defensive prowess. His turn on that play was poetry. When it was hit, I thought there was no way. In fact, my first thought was that it was going to sneak between Berkman and Bruntlett. My favorite play in all of sports is a middle infield double play...yesterday's was just incredible.

    3. I said for a while that yesterday was THE game. DaDa said earlier in this thread that he sees a bit of quit in the Cards. I see it, too. I don't know if it's quit...or if it's the noose tightening up. The Cards have not played a game with pressure all season long until this series. Seriously. They ran out to a big lead and never looked back. Meanwhile, the Astros have been playing in playoff pressure games since about June. They're incredibly loose, because they know you can lose today and still pick yourself up tomorrow. The Cards haven't learned that lesson. And it's starting to show. The pressure on that team coming into this season is huge.

    4. Incredible that we pinch run Taveras...and then he comes up with the huge play that only he can make in deep center on Tal's Hill. Unreal. I nearly crapped my pants when that ball flew off the bat.

    5. My 5 year old son knows an entirely different "Astros" than I do. For 31 years, I've lived in Houston, Texas. Baseball has been my first love in sports. And the Astros my favorite sports franchise. In the first 22 years of my life, the Astros made the NLCS twice...once in 80...once in 86. They didn't make it to the playoffs at all those other years. My son was born in 2000. At 5 years old, his team was in the playoffs in 2001, 2004 and 2005. They are, perhaps, on the way to the World Series. I've never seen my 'stros in the Series. Looks like he may see it at 5! :) He was dancing all over the place yesterday after they won. Starting cheers in the section we were standing in. It was freaking awesome. What a great day!

It was clear as day, Edmonds is full of schit--Cuzzi was talking to him and you saw Edmonds mouth, emphatically, "F*** That!". Couldn't have been any clearer.
