show of hands anyone actually think the game would be this close? lets get a run and hand it to wheeler and lidge and put them cards more on the ropes!
well last year hitting ruled the day in the playoffs. the astros slugged their way into the nlcs and then the stros and cards did a bunch of hitting. the yankees and sox slugged their way to the alcs and then went crazy on the runs for a while. the WS was the first time one team didn't really do much. of course, over time, pitching is usually the winner, but it isn't always so. luckily there are no huge lineups left this year so if we can make it our great pitching should be able to handle other teams. i would be more worried about facing the yankees or sox lineup than the other sox pitching staff.
The Stros have have had plenty of guys on base. They have got to wake up with RISP and get a big hit. The pitching has been great today. Jus need a big hit to win this game.
Also a lot of the runners left stranded have been by the bottom of our lineup (namely Ausmus and Everett). I guess they're the 7th and 8th hitters for a reason... even in the extreme wall-eyed view of the playoffs... those guys are going to be outs more often than they are going to get hits.
Yes... strike while the iron is hot... Please God let this happen for us!!! The Astros killer comes up with a HUGE error
oh please can we please score here. 1st and 2nd, no outs. bunt them over. let them walk lance, and give ensberg a bases loaded chance.
That's how it will play out if he gets the bunt down... unless TLR decides to turn Berkman around with Ray King. Either way, Marquis should be gone from the game... which is a plus for me.
