that's what i was thinking but the good news is no one else gives a **** about this series so maybe it'll go away pretty quickly. and with the nba starting they'll have something else to talk about and i'll have something else to watch.

I wonder if they will use that phrase next year...maybe "Lights Out Lidge**"

**"If the Lights should go out the Houston Astros are not responsible for any damages"

At the end, yes... but this team still scored 3, 6, and 5 (for the first 9 inn) runs the first three games... and yet the White Sox still found ways to beat us.

I posted a week ago that RISP was the major factor in whether the Astros could win it all and indeed, it turned out to be what ultimately doomed them. Maybe this will be the catalyst that will finally push Astros management to improve their scouting and look for players with better offensive skills.

As DaDakota posted earlier, these Astros played with all of their heart but their collective baseball skills were simply not as good as those of the White Sox. The Sox won this series period and deserved to win this series. As a lifelong Astros fan, I came away from this series sadden by the fact they got swept but overall pleased with their effort. I, too, gave them up for dead in June and I am hopeful that this team and organization learned enough from this experience to help make sure that it won't take this team another 44 years to get back to the show.

I was more or less talking in jest. I'm certainly not making excuses. But that did mess w/ the club's mojo a bit.

As for the media calling us winners though... I'm all for that :)

Ironically, the White Sox may actually be the best TEAM (hitting and pitching-wise) that was in the playoffs... so I guess it shouldn't really be a suprise that they won it all.

The Yankees, Red Sox, and Angels ALL would have been more favorable matchups... and all the other NL teams had some major flaws that were exposed in every round.

Yankees - not enough quality pitching/nothing from A-Rod
Red Sox - not enough starting pitching
    Angels - not enough hitting
Cardinals - no fire, too mechanical, starting pitching issues after Carpenter.
    Braves - no bullpen
Padres - shouldn't even have been there.

In the end, what weakness do the White Sox really have? Great pitching, solid hitting, and a good enough bullpen (that they really didn't need much from all playoffs). I guess their manager is a tool... and their stadium/weather was no good... but other than that, they were the best team.

And yet you guys still needed all the umps help, all the media's support, and MLB to open the roof for you to win in the end.

I tipped my hat... but there's no reason for you to stick around and gloat (if that's what you're planning on doing)... have fun on a white sox board.

Just like Crash Davis said in Bull Durham: "I tell you what pitch is coming, and you stand there and admire it?... RUN DUMMY!"

Let's hear it for Backe; what an outstanding pitching performance. Folks, he shut out the World Champions! Off course Lidge fumbled the game away, again, but Backe was sensational. However, the hitting wasn't; probably the most futile, pathetic stretch of major(?) league hitting I have seen. This team needs a bat or two, desperately. Otherwise, Thanks Astros for a great season and a "dramatic" run at the playoffs. It will take me awhile to get over all the stranded batters; wow, that was really pitiful.

    Agreed, let me add

Astros - not enough hitting, dominant pitching didn't dominate

Ok after watching the end credits roll by I'm starting to feel it. I'm gonna be so bummed tomorrow, just like I was last year after that incredible run. No more Astros for awhile :( Postseasons like this - that take you on such a rollercoaster ride - you just don't want to end. And it's certainly gonna take me a few weeks if not more to jump back to the Rockets, just like last year.

Thanks for a great season 'Stros!

    NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!

I'm very surprised that they didn't win any of the games. It's not like the White Sox played that much better or were clearly the superior team. I'm perplexed.

Congrats to the Astros and the city of Houston for hosting the World Series.

As a kid I always dreamed and hoped the Astros might somehow make it to the World Series, and finally I got to see that. Thanks to all these scrappy guys - old and young - for pulling off the unexpected.
