There is no God, there are no baseball gods, there is no destiny, fate, or curse. The Astros lost the last three games all by themselves. With a small bit of help from the umpires. But ultimately, when the game was on the line and the Astros had a chance to win, they didn't. That's what frustrates me the most. The White Sox haven't won any of these three games. The Astros lost them. There's a huge difference between getting beat by a better team and never coming through and performing to win games. Don't give me that trash about how the Astros were 15 below .500. Good for them. They needed to win to get to the playoffs. Then they needed to win to get past the NLDS. Then they needed to win to get past the NLCS. They did all those things. They won't do this one. The Astros broke my heart. Plain and simple. I wouldn't even care if they were swept by a better team. If they gave it their all, left their hearts out on the field, and still came away empty, I'd be happy. I'd know that they did their best, and congratulations guys you did what no one thought you could. But what they're doing now? That's not worthy of praise or positive thinking. "But they weren't even going to get to the playoffs!" Ok? Who cares? They're in now, and the whole point of getting to the playoffs is to win. Not to lose easy games. Not to give up 5 runs in an inning when a weak offense has already gone all out and given you a 4-0 lead by the 5th, which was almost unheard of in the regular season. Pack it up guys, this isn't your Astros team. This isn't the team that couldn't lose a game if their life depended on it and scrapped out every single win they got. The is the team for whom nothing goes right, who doesn't get the hits that they need to win the game, even when given three or four chances in a row. This is the team that was only supposed to win because of pitching, and whose pitching has managed to collapse in the worst possible ways and times recently. This is the team who only scores runs to tie the game so that they can prolong the loss. The Astros broke my heart. They don't deserve to win. Neither do the Sox, and I'd really like their bus or plane or whatever to crash. I've managed to develop an intense hatred towards each and every person on their roster. I absolutely hate Queerzynski and Ozzie "Venezuela" Guillen who conducts himself like an idiot on and off the field. I hate HATE every single one of them. Except Geoff Blum. Good hit last night Geoff. You're not a White Sock as far as I'm concerned. You're a whole bunch of things, but not a Sock. Out of all the team-jumping you've done, you just happened to land on them in this stupid, lucky year. The year when everyone across the country had the Sox meat way down in the back of their throat. The year when stupid Fox broadcasts air ridiculous facts like "The Sox haven't been to the World Series since 1959, which is also the first year Fidel Castro ruled Cuba", insinuating that somehow a Sox WS victory is tantamount to a victory over communism, and acts like it's been such a long time since they've been, when really it's only been three years longer than the time the Astros have been waiting. The same year that every call went their way, and at times you really wonder if they did bribe everyone within reach to make sure they'd win. I hate this. And so I decided not to watch the game tonight. I'll check on the scores every once in a while, and if they win, fine. But I fully expect to get on msn.com tonight and see the headline "White Sox are your WS Champs". I wish it wouldn't happen. I wish we would have swept. But I can't take the losses anymore. I can't take watching them play and not do what they're supposed to. I won't do it. Call me a bandwagoner and say stuff like "Good, we don't want you watching." I honestly don't care. Loyalty to sports teams is supposed to bring you happiness. You're supposed to enjoy your teams success. Well I see no success to enjoy. Not even small successes like knowing that, although they lost, at least they came through in clutch situations and tried to win and ended up merely losing to the better team. THE WHITE SOX ARE NOT THE BETTER TEAM. The Astros are just a worse team. I'm sorry guys, but I won't be watching tonight. I've been a fan my whole life and never before have you made me feel this bad. Backe is going to get y'all blown out tonight, so kick back, relax. Don't worry too much about the game. But I don't need to tell you that.
If i'd never felt the sunshine, hell i would not curse the rain If you've felt the joy from this ride then you shouldn't bail because of the pain. You can't really feel one without knowing the other. I hope we come back just so the weak at heart rue their cowardess.
I will be driving to Houston right after class today to attend Game 4. Let's go Stros. One game at a time.
Denial IS a river in Egypt. Stros win tonight and wrap up the series in an 18 inning game 7 Sunday night in Chicago.
Right!! I feel like Charlton Heston in that famous scene on the beach in Planet of the Apes... DAMN YOU!! DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!!! (directed at MLB for the roof thing, the umps, and my head, which may explode at any time)
man did i call this sweep or what....hitting hitting hitting....when the other team scores runs in timely situations.....it means they have better hitting.... this series has been more about hitting than pithcing.....though coming into the series i thought it would be about pitching...guess not.
Yeah, Geoff Blum is a better hitter than any of the Astros ... why people get thier kicks trolling is beyond me.
Brandon Backe will have the most inspiring pitching performance of the year. Vizciano and Burke breathe life back into the lineup as the Astros pound the Sox Houston 11 Chicago 1
Thought this was funny The White Sox are on the verge of tying Bobby Brown's mark for beating Houston 4 times in 1 week.
Even though I'm a pessimistic person - I've got a good feeling about this game. Stros 6 - Sox 3 Our first WS win!
Astacio is the anti-Christ. That is why we lost Game 3. I don't want to hear no more! God controls everything that Satan does not...even failures to get runs home form third with less than 2 outs.
Astacio threw a good pitch - down and in. Blum hit a good pitch. Astacio did walk in a run though. We had many chances before to win it with a 1 or 2 out hit. Plain and simple.
