Nobody was trying to accomplish a "sweep"... but yes, getting to the World Series... which is still the HARDEST round to reach in all of professional sports... is our biggest accomplishment. Its an even bigger accomplishment when you realize that this team had ZERO expectations on them to even come close to repeat what they did last year. Some of you are acting like being in the World Series was a "god given right"...
why can't the white sox ever get squeezed by the ump? why are we the only ****ing team that gets the insanely inside strike called but then don't get it called the only inning backe got in trouble. amazing.
Viz....come on...Viz.....he used up all his mojo in game 2..... Garner is out of Magic....this team is dead..... Time for some off season changes. Morgan learn to hit to all fields, Willy learn to hit with more pop, go hard after Rafael Furcal, and Konerko, at least get one... And then hope that Roger still has the urge to pitch and complete the quest that the team failed at this year. DD
Well, looks like our weakness has finally been exposed.... Purpura blew it when he didn't pick up a bat. pretty clear for all to see right now.
Glad I still have Game 4 of the NLDS on the TiVO so I can watch Burke's game winner after this thing is over. Otherwise I'd probably jump out the window if this was the last thing I watched tonight. I assume we see Fat Boy in the 9th?
That's a perfect example of how this series has gone. The breaks just aren't going our way. We get a broken bat weak grounder that has a chance, and they get Viz with the runner coming home.
And Bagwell retire...please!!!!!!!!!! Give back some of that dough do they can get a hot free agent!!!
To get shut out would be the cherry on top. And would epitomize the whole series. Like other have said. The Team put it all together this season. They did everything they could possibly do. Just ran into a better team at this point....BUT, THERE ARE STILL THREE MORE OUTS TO WIN IT!!!!!
Garner has lost his mojo. Burke is a better right handed hitter than Viz. Garner left his brain in st. louis
it's not really a break that viz is slow. now lets see how many more runs lidge can give up. although probably none since it doesn't matter any more.
If we had the Beltran of the 2004 playoffs, we would have gone 152-10, and swept our way thru the playoffs. Unfortunately, the Beltran of the 2004 playoffs was just a case of a guy who was just really really really blessed for 2 hot weeks (in a contract year, no less). That guy hasn't been in baseball since... and while he may have had a better year in Houston (which doesn't make much sense... considering his regular season here last year wasn't earth-shattering)... you can't assume anything.
