Yes. Backe could have gone back in there and given up the lead just as easily as Lidge. It was just a slow ass grounder that found a hole...it's what the Sox have been doing all Series. And if we can't score a run, then Lidge giving up one damn run is pretty meaningless.
Poor Roger...to think he ended his career walking off the mound injured in the WS....sucks for him!!!!
in all fairness, you really can't blame Lidge tonight, not when the team can only muster 4 insignificant hits in 8 innings...
sigh. thanks for the sometimes fun, most of the time frustrating season Astros. Please add some excitement to this series...get it done tonight, for once this WS.
Bottom line: Every time we've left the door open a crack in this series, Chicago has taken advantage. Every time. That's the mark of a great team -- they take what you give them.
We lost this game when Lidge threw a high fastball to give up that slap single at the start of this inning. Getting beat with your 2nd best pitch is inexcusable. Ausmus has to take some of the blame...calling for that pitch? Hell, on TV players were saying they were all waiting on a fastball to hit..... I guess that doesn't matter to CPT Dartmouth...... Still only giving up one run, should allow you to win 90% of the time. We led the league in being shut out this year, it is only natural that we lose that way in the final game of the WS too. DD
