How many secret cars have you unlocked? I've only gotten one, due to lack of time because of work.

However, I begin my Thanksgiving vacation tonight and will have ample opportunity to fully explore the greatness that is MK-DD!

I thought the control was too tough at first, but after playing it more, I like it a lot. Addicting once again. Just wish they would have been a little bit more creative with the tracks - in a different way. Yes, they've changed up a lot, even though you still have Rainbow Road, it is different, but I think they added just a few too many gimmicks to the tracks (bridges, water spouts, etc.) instead of concentrating on simple track design. Case in point - in my opinion, that one where you go around for 7 laps is one of the more fun races, and its simple as heck. Just my opinion.

Well so far I'm also having some trouble getting used to it. I'm really trying to beat the Star Cup at 100cc, so that will unlock the Special Cup. So far no luck though.

Hey J....any reccomendatinons on what Character/Cart combos to use?

Wario Land 4 and Wario Ware are also very good.
Also, some of the old school game collections are worth checking out (I like the Namco one).

I just finished Mario and Luigi tonight - what a great game.

Does anyone remember River City Ransom for NES? They're coming out with that one for GBA.

    Barf!

I sucked with everyone until I used the good old Mario-Luigi combo. I think any one will do you fine, just different characteristics. I have noticed that the bigger cars do kind of mess me up though.

I can't believe that there aren't more pro-GameCube replies. Granted, if you always play alone, or if you often play on the road, some incarnation of the GameBoy might better suit your needs. having said that, in terms of hardware capabilities, quantity and quality of excellent titles, and overall entertainment experience, I don't think any handheld can hold a candle to a console. I own a GameCube and a PS2, and I play them regularly. To me, handhelds are just a watered-down substitute for the real thing. If I had to recommend just one game system, and given that I don't know your particular situation, I'd suggest the GameCube. There are a lot of outstanding games for it in every genre. If you get it, you MUST GET Super Smash Bros. Melee, far and away the finest and most fun multiplayer game ever created for any system. Of course, it's not nearly as good without three friends. There are lots of other essential GameCube games, including the new Mario Kart.

Granted, if portability is an important issue, you're better off going with a handheld. While I do take my GameCube on the road with me (it's pretty damn compact for a console) I know some people would not be willing to deal with that. However, if you are just interested in the relative strength of the two systems, there is really no competition. Just look at the respective hardware specs and the game libraries. Good luck with your purchase.
