Finally reached rank 50 this week and still love this game! It takes a lot more skill than all the other mainstream shooters that someone else here mentioned. Most people complain because all they know is the "run & gun" style of COD but this game takes actual strategy. Also the new map "Battle for Hastings" was opened by DICE early (01/01/11) because the PC destroyed 360 & PS3 in team points. This game is awesome!
I might consider getting the Vietnam expansion. there some kind of mini DLC...is it just soldier skins?? that's weak!
I actually loved this expansion even more than the original game... ...until all the jackasses in the world found the PBR boat glitch. I won't be playing much until they fix it.
Yeah I've been trophy whoring, but went back to regular BC2 because of the glitchers. You still play on Saturdays? I haven't seen you on BC2 in a while.
I gave it a rest for awhile, had a long period of playing Borderlands for multiplayer, as well as FIFA 11. But gotten back into it in the past month or so... will play Vietnam a ton when the boat glitch is fixed. Don't really play at a particular time. I'll look for you when I'm on.
This glitch I assume is a console deal? On PC, things are just a straight hack, rather than an exploit/glitch on consoles. Is my assumption correct? I'm on PC, out of curiosity, what is the glitch?

Interesting... What's more sad is the grown men (assuming they are grown) giggling like fairies. No offense to fairies.
As you assumed before yeah, I play it on PS3. And getting away from hackers and aimbots and such is the primary reason why I don't play on my PC instead, so the above glitch is particularly irksome to me. But yeah, if PC hacks & such weren't so prevalent in PC multiplayer shooters, I'd actually use my PC with an i7, Radeon 5870 2 GB edition, and 12GB RAM a bit more. As it is I pretty much only play single-player stuff on PC.
Man, you really need to check out Vietnam. Honestly I think it's even more fun than the original game, but maybe that's because I already put 200+ hours into the original game. Black Ops/CoD/MW/whatever have always been too arcadey to me. I feel like if I want to be unrealistic I'll just go full-bore and play Halo. The one time I tried Black Ops it felt exactly the same as MW2... too much aim assist, not enough recoil. You really should come back.
LOL! that console exploit is hilarious. I've never heard of it till i googled it after it was first mentioned in this thread. Vietnam is great, more fun than the original game.
You know, I love the fact that there is bullet drop when you snipe...weird how it doesn't seem to affect any other bullets from your ARs and such though. Pretty satisfying to snipe from a very long distance and have to aim high for a one shot kill (headshot). I need some help though. Shooting down helicopters...I can't do it for nothing. Tried tracers, tried the heat seeking rockets you guide. I rarely can hit a heli unless they are just flying too low and stupidly. Asking as an engineer of course. AA guns and such are pretty straightforward.
If the pilot is decent, it's just hard to do, period. But certainly the best way to go about it is with tracers. If they've got someone detaching them with smoke though, you're kinda screwed. Hitting with tracers now is at least easier than it was when they first released the game... tracers were so slow it was barely even an improvement over the speed of rockets. Then they tripled the speed, thought it was overpowered, and brought it back down to double. Pretty decently balanced now.
So I guess I totally missed the boat on this game when it came out, but I think this might be a game that I'll enjoy. How do you guys recommend I start? I usually get FPS's on the 360, and on Amazon I see Battlefield Bad Company 2 Ultimate Edition for $38.99. I am not sure if the "Ultimate Edition" is worth the extra price, or if I should just wait for a GOTY edition or something with the Vietnam expansion already in it (if something like that even comes out). Again I am new to the Bad Company series, and reading all the good things about it here makes me think I would like a game like this. If there are any good deals for the 360 version that anyone is aware of, please let me know. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I think the only thing the "Ultimate Edition" really adds is Onslaught mode. Which is fine and I like it and all, but if you don't have multiple friends that have it to play it with you, it isn't worth it. 95% of your time with the game will probably be in Rush or Conquest multiplayer. Also, don't buy the stupid SPECTACT kits or whatever they're called. They don't functionally do anything, and from what I hear, they cause you to have to reconfigure all your kits every time you switch maps.
