my girlfriend had to put up with me too. playing against dallas shoed us how unathletic we are. it's a good thing the kings are pus*y and tanked the last few games so they could play seattle. had we played and beaten the sonics then lost to the spurs i think we wouldn't have stressed quick PG's and athletic wings. we still would've gone after stro however. that was a no brainer.
I agree. If we had to blow a 2-0 series lead and lose a Game 7 I'd rather it have been a blowout. If it were a close loss then management might have thought that the team only needed a few minor tweaks. But the Game 7 loss completely exposed all of the team's weaknesses. Weaknesses that have been fixed in commanding fashion.
I don't know about a "sense of urgency", either, but I have noticed a "sense of rememberance" by our players from last years team, and especially the coach that will not let them forget the 40 point loss "JVG". He will not forget and he will use that loss to the max, any and everyway he can. "This has been a special off season, and will be a "special season"!
I broke my heart and it hurted so bad when we got blow out in game 7. In most nights, with players like Yao & TMac, we would have win. I think it's more of our age than anything. Fatigue finally caught up with us. Besides the two young guns, other guys seem slow (we're not very athletic either). It's definitely a blessing in disguise, because it motivates Tmac & Yao in this summer to get even better, and motivates JVG and CD to pull all the strings. WE're gonna be the most fearsome team in the NBA that nobody wants to play against.
I think that T-Mac will have a stellar and MVP type of year, but I don't think it'll be because of the points... He'll score his fair share believe me, but it'll be because of the leadership aspect... He'll grow personally and that is where the difference will be! He has enough weapons around him to help him score!
