But what if their was a memo. Can you imagine. How freaking sweet would that be. What would be even sweeter is if their was a Jordan memo that came out of all of this. Led the Shredding machines go to work.

Van Gundy has the power. He could name an official he wants to get fired lol, or he could name the woman, and really fuel the fire by adding sexism into any disciplinary action. Rockets hold all the cards.

so many speculations... here's a few more for a rant thread.

There's obviously something wrong when the player with probably the highest market for the NBA is being treated this way. I won't even throw in the race card, but something's up....

The calls all series is ridiculous. I was pretty mad for the first 4 games even after we won the first two. I noticed what the Rockets will have to do to win each game and that is to beat them playing 5 on 8. This is just ridiculous....

Why am I only mad for games 1-4? Well, on the "fair" end, we missed some FTs in the 4th quarter that no one else could be blamed for.... And the MAIN reason, I'm just not suprised anymore. I've always known that the NBA is biased and what could make better drama than to see Dallas vs. Phoenix after the Steve Nash offseason. The NBA has wanted a fast paste game, and what's better than to have 2 teams that runs around with their tails between their legs and plays no D whatsoever. What's better than to have Phoenix beat the Mavs just to add the dramatic exclamation mark of an offseason in which Dallas refused to spend $$$ for the first time on an aging veteran.

Personally, I really don't like Phoenix. But as of now, I hate the Mavs. All of a sudden, if the Rockets are to lose to the Mavs, I'm actually considering cheering for the Spurs... go figure. I also don't like the Heat, but they'll be the team that I want most to win just because of the Van Gundy connection and the Shaq not getting calls factor.

Game 5 is ridiculous to the point where I really just don't care anymore. Now, self-appointed dictator Stern is talking about the possibility of further punishment. whatever.... I just hope that if anything is to happen, that JVG will remain a Rocket in any shape or form, or at least stay in the Houston area because my respect for him has skied through the roof. My first reaction upon reading the fine yesterday afternoon was to start a collection for him. He probably doesn't need the money, but it's the statement within it.

Anyways, whatever the scenario, I have lost all sense of necessity to go to any games anytime soon or to buy any more NBA merchandize.... Believe me, I've spent far too much on a biased league and basketball will no longer mean NBA to me. Those are completely different terms in any dictionary that you could find. Basketball is the game that my friends and I get together and play every weekend... the game where competition matters and drama is reduced to a thread. Basketball is where I watch two teams, regardless of their discrepency, to play with their hearts and laugh and joke about it afterwards. The NBA, is a TV show. It's like watching Jack Bauer kill 200 people every season without getting himself killed. It's watching Homer Simpson fall off mountains and everybody laugh. It just isn't basketball.

I was at Game 5 in the lower section near the Rockets bench so i had an excellent view of the court. The officiating was terrible and there will be repurcussions for the missed call on Michael Finley especially given the David Stern - JVG tiff where JVG has basically questioned the integrity of the league (it's about time). However, it's too convenient to blame this loss on the refs because they were out there hosing both teams. The game is simply too fast for these bozos to handle. BUT, IF the Rockets hit their free throws they WIN. If ANYONE else (Sura, Barry, Wesley, Padgett, Bowen, Mutumbo) outside of Mike James scores in double figures they WIN. The Mavs are too good offensively and too fast for the Rockets and when crunch time comes, it is the Mavericks who can execute offensively while the Rockets continue to fall short.

I came away from the game last night feeling that in spite of everything else - the bonehead officials, bad calls, phantom fouls, etc., the Rockets played about as well as they could possibly could and it simply wasn't good enough to pull out the win. The numbers say it all:

    David Wesley - 48 minutes; 2 of 5 for 8 points
    Bob Sura - 23 minutes; 3 of 5 for 7 points
    Jon Barry - 25 minutes; 3 of 7 for 7 points
    Scott Padgett - 21 minutes; 1 of 3 for 4 points
    D. Mutumbo - 12 minutes; 1 of 2 for 3 points
    Mike James - 30 minutes; 6 0f 9 for 16 points

hahahahaha i totally agree with you. if Artest can beat up a fan and get suspended for a year then there's no way JVG should be banned from the NBA for calling the NBA out.

Good job JVG, all the fans are behind ya!

my FRIEND is a die hard MAVS fan and this is what he emailed to me after I mentioned the 5 bogus calls.

"McGrady's poor performance in the 4th quarter and Van Gundy's crap
decision to put in Yao with 2 minutes left in the 1st half when he has 1
foul and the Rockets are only down by 2 made the difference. In the last
two minutes before half time Yao went from having 1 foul to 3 fouls
before the half and the Rockets went from down 2 to down 8. Van Gundy
is a brilliant coach, but he has to play Yao better and he can't play
McGrady 40+ minutes a game if he wants him to guard Dirk and play with
any kind of intensity in the fourth. "

Here is the email I sent to the NBA:

    SHAMEFUL, SHAMEFUL, SHAMEFUL,

the last minute of game 5 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas was a horrendous display of officiating. The worst I have ever witnessed. How an official cannot see that a player has BOTH feet out of bounds when he causes a "turnover"..yet this same official can see through several players, across the court and notice that a shooter has the edge of his foot on the 3-pt line. Then the "phantom foul" as Steve Kerr called it- when Michael Finley was trapped on the baseline. Those were both horrendous calls that might have easily Costs Houston the First round. You know its bad when the TNT commentators mention that Houston should be very upset at the officiating. I have never heard commentators call out the officials like they did during Monday nights telecast.

I have NEVER complained about officiating before..but maybe if the voice of thousands of us poor Houston fans can equal the weight of 1 Rich spoiled Owner in Dallas...we might be heard. It's no suprise that this biased officating comes after Jeff Van Gundy's recent fining for quoting another official. How can the NBA NOT be promoting the "thug Life" when coaches & players are fined a measly $10,000 for charging after an official under a violent pretense, yet they fine a coach $100,000 for quoting an NBA official. David Stern needs to take a long hard look at his policies (and the last minute of Monday Nights Western Conference quarterfinal game 5.) I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO DISSAPOINTED IN THE NBA IN MY LIFE. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELFS FOR LETTING THE RICHEST & WHININGEST OWNER IN THE NBA CONTROL YOUR ACTIONS. I GUESS MONEY TALKS.

This is serious for the NBA. It's becoming a credibility issue now. There's a poll on ESPN now that clearly shows fans think the officiating is bad, Van Gundy's fine was too much and the league treats some players differently than others including Yao.

For me, this game and that horrific non-call on Finley's "steal" have finally outdone the David Robinson "tip-in" (well after the buzzer) in 93 that lost us the home court advantage and eventually the series against the Sonics. (home team won every game.)

It's just so blatantly obvious why JVG was fined more than any coach in NBA history. Because he hit a nerve. It's true! Of course it's true, and David Stern knows it.

I wish nothing but ill upon him, Cuban, and the entire Mavericks organization. For the rest of my life I shall smile each and every time they lose. I hate them with the heat of a nova.

Here's some more fuel for this fire. Just heard this on Norm Hitzges' radio show on 1310 The Ticket. Mark Cuban confirmed to him this morning that he did send tape of 28 plays to the league on Yao & Mutumbo making illegal screens. Cuban said that in 9 instances, the league agreed that a foul should have been called. Furthermore, the NBA has a secure website for the officials where they are required to look at video of questionable plays and that Mark Cuban's video was placed there. So it appears that officials WERE told to look specifically at Yao's play based on something that Mark Cuban initiated.

Norm is also livid with David Stern and the NBA for releasing this through Mark Cuban to the public while his team is involved in a playoff series with Yao and the Rockets. He further states that the treatment JVG received goes to the heart of the league's credibility in the issue of fairness and that Houston has a right to feel that something is just not right.

You better believe Les Alexander has got his threats, I mean communications from the League also.

Les call in Team Yao, let's play hard ball.

Get Team Yao on a plane to Bejing, get with the governement and get the Chinese Govt. on the phone with Washington,

time to play politics, let's make this an International Incedent.

Put pressure on David Stern from the highest levels...

His apology could be worded like this-

"After further investigation we have found that while no directive came from the NBA office in regards to the officiating of Yao Ming, we have also found reasons for Mr. Van Gundy's concerns that have been corrected at the appropriate level. We have reduced his fine to $10,000.00 for criticizing the officials and breaking NBA policy." No further comments at this time.

This was a play that really sent me through the roof. It was obivous to me that Stackhouse was early on the jump ball and Deke, which is supposed to be illeagal. It gave the Mavs all the momentum going into halftime.

I don't know about that, just ask Andre Agassi how that works at Wimbledon or Curt Schilling his opinion of Questec.
