the celtics are trying to make my boston in 5 prediction look bad. i was one of only 4 to pick that out of 223 votes. but i still believe the lakers can blow this. look for an allen 3 coming up here then a missed ft or two.

and is anyone surprised posey didn't flagrantly foul kobe on that dunk after the steal? that seems like a posey thing to do.

Game 2, the one where they nearly had the biggest collapse in the history of the sport before a late touch foul bailed them out?

OK, I'm sorry, I have to rant here. I am sick and tired of NBA coaches constantly burning their last timeout trailing by multiple possessions in the final minute. Having a timeout essentially extends the game because even if the other team clanks a free throw with 1 second left, you can call a timeout and advance the ball. Now, anything under 4 seconds is pretty much ballgame.

were the refs trying to let the celtics get that steal? kobe gets tackled by garnett (i told you they wouldn't foul him out) and there's no call?

I'm pretty sure Kobe was laying out of bounds there, but that's the NBA.

More like Kobe stiff arms Garnett to get open...

The thing about Garnett is that he really doesn't take the BIG shots. He's more of an all-around player that gets his points throughout the game.

He chokes a lot. I remember him missing a lot FTs in the series against the Lakers, when he was with Minny in the WCFs.

well see, techincally, they played the close part of the game well. they played the massive lead part of the game poorly.:D

    yes, that is stupid.

and of course house hits an impossible 3 just to make the game interesting while the lakers bumble with the ball (and get fouled with no call).

yes, that's what happened. a typical get open move, then kobe gets knocked down (remember garnett falling out of bounds on that "over the back" by gasol? far less contact there) with no call. what a break the lakers caught that getting tackled didn't result in a turnover. just like those breaks they caught when the refs almost let the spurs undeservedly tie up game 4. break after break after break.

    Goats for Boston:
KG - shooting free throws like he's scared

Rivers - Hey Rivers, when Sam is destroying Jordan Farmar, try running that post up play again.

    I agree.

Boston is going to win by at least 20 in Game 6.

This Lakers team is the dumbest/least composed team I have ever seen in the Finals. A lot of people thought that bringing in Pau would take the pressure off of Odom (as well as Gasol having less pressure on him) and it did in regular season games and some playoff games but the fact remains that when the pressure is on either of these guys (as in big games) they are chokers no matter if they are the first, second, third or tenth option.

The sad thing is the guy is supposed to be "one of the greatest of all time," and yet doesn't seem capable of mustering up at least one 'game for the ages' in what may very well be his one and only finals appearance in his career. If this was Barkley, or even Malone...boy...this is why I can't in good conscious call KG an "all-timers". I know his stats are great, but it would take a LOT more for me in terms of intangibles to push a player into that elite group of legends. Some guys averaged less all-around numbers, but had much more 'presence' when it counted.

As I said, KG is whom I thought he was...

One could argue that the Kobe steal was a foul, I mean the replay pretty much showed him missing the ball and hitting Pierce...

Point is, if you wanna blame the refs, realize they were horrible both ways.

    Uh, no.
he didn't take any bad shots.

A wide open jumper that he missed. that 'lucky bank' was his favorite mid range, he missed an open 3 (not a bad shot), he scored on a post up on Farmar (good shot), he scored again on Farmar on the post (good shot).

Wow....to not be able to beat the Lakers playing that bad.....

That was a really bad game to watch. Just a lot of terrible basketball and few players willing to step up!

It almost played out the way I thought it would. Celtics will win game 6 if the Lakers play the same way like tonight.

I knew KG would choke at the FT line. Go figure. What's up with this guy? You've been dreaming about winning this your whole life, you talk about this all the time in interviews, cry about it even...and then you miss the free throws that could've easily gotten you a ring tonight.

To be fair to him, he did a lot more than just miss those couple of FTs...

The sad part is if the Lakers had Bynum (yeah someone was gonna bring his name up), good chance its the Lakers up 3-2 instead of Boston. He might have been a stabilizing enough presense to ensure the Lakers win game 4.

Consider me unimpressed by the Lakers with the MVP, best coach in league history, and 2 other All Star talents. And we thought Rafer and Head made boneheaded plays in the crucial moments.
