The one thing about Rudy T's style of coaching is his exaggerated focus on one player. He coached Hakeem, and Hakeem arguably had his best years with Rudy T. Steve also had his best year under Rudy T's coaching. It was also his 2nd year under Rudy T that was Steve's best. Rudy T seems to have a knack for getting the best out of that one single player by the 2nd season. With that in mind, Rudy now has Kobe. In terms of the ability to affect the game, Kobe is in between Hakeem and Steve. If Rudy T is able to get the Lakers far into the playoffs, it will further solidify his place in NBA history. Of course, it will help Kobe out too. Realistically, it's just too damn hard to win a title without a dominant big man nowadays.

Why would he come back to someone who tore his heart out, and why would LESS admit that he was wrong?

I really might start rooting for the Lakers now....
A year and a half ago I was happy to see the Rockets let Rudy go and force him to rest for a year but right now I wish he was back coaching the rockets again. I'm in nyc and as much nice things I've heard about JVG, I've heard more things to worry about having him as our coach any longer. Hopefully in a year we'll chunk the gumby out.
