Oh and, by the way, if you are a Timberland fan; go pick up the new LL Cool J CD "The Definition". Pretty good as well.
I've seen 50 in Concert and wouldnt mind seeing G-Unit. The most I'd spend on the ticket is probably $20.
Went, and it was excellent..... Lots of people missed out because the crowd was a bit crazy, but seriously...they MISSED OUT... Only 50 cent and Lloyd Banks came, but still they were superb, had the time of my life... I was about 10-15 feet from them.. I payed for the $50 tickets, but got into the $190 area thanks to some connections, or "wasta" as we like to call it... They did an excellent job and when my brother met them they were really sincere about how they love it here and how they really thoguht it would be different... They even't went as far as to say they felt right at home and that Arabs have simiar culture and attitudes as black people.... I'd go again if they came... As expected, they screamed everything out... But he tried going the other route in the beginning and I'm glad he didn't stick with it because the crowd was way more into it when he started screaming.. Oh, and also there were lots of people from other countries... I think a lot of people from the American navy and stuff were there too (especially from Saudi).... Are there people that follow them around their world tour (groupies?)? It seems like it, because there a whole bunch of Americans, more than you normally see in Dubai and more than you see in any other concert.... Anyways, if you like hip-hop or rap, I definitely advise you to see them.... You won't be dissapointed by the show..
Missy Elliott in concert really backs up your point of view. I think she is damn near brilliant on her records, but her live performance was just lousy. Lots of milling around, stopping the show to talk too much, too much emphasis on yelling, etc. The Jurrassic Five are an example of great live hip-hop, so I guess there are exceptions to every rule.
I saw 50 cent right when his album came out at Maxis 2000. It was insane, the best show ive ever been too.
i hate to say this, but i equate most gangsta rap and most other rap on the radio with britney spears and nsync. its as though they learned everything in a studio or just never perfected their live act before they broke. roots, mos def, jurassic 5, pharcyde - all good live, but i see these guys as hip-hop. 50 and those guys are "rap stars"
nah man, 50 puts on a great live show. Ive seen jurassic 5 and pharcyde. Pharcyde was alright, Jurassic 5 was boring. So, yeah, nothing to compare to 50
I love hiphop and listen to more underground hiphop that you can imagine. But ive been to both shows and I preffer a "crunk" show as they call it. Over a Roots live set that gets boring after 5 songs.
I saw 50 cent in Austin right before his album dropped. The show was decent, just not a fan of rap concerts.
Glad you guys had a good time t those 50 cent concerts. Personally, I wouldn't spend a dime to go listen to his garbage. Being cocky is one thing, but when you call out almost every rapper in the game, the majority of which are better lyricists than you, something just isn't right. Young Buck and Lloyd are good though. It's gotta be a sign that Hell is on the verge of freezing over when someone prefers watching a couple of rappers and 20-30 of their closest groupies(errr....I mean friends) walk around on a stage doing nothing but rhyming words that only a handful of people, possibly not even on the stage, wrote over a true set with people singing and playing actual music themselves. I've been into rap since the days of The Fat Boys, Whodini, Doug E Fresh, Kool Moe D, etc, but would never consider paying to see any rapper perform live.
I wouldn't say that getting shot 9 times gives you street cred. It just shows that you were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Cod
Im not too big a 50 fan, but i heard it was awesome, my brothers friends went from Saudi, They were going crazy about the whole thing.... I personally wouldnt have gone, but maybe if i was over there, the circumstances would have been different
I think you're completely missing the "crunk" factor. Sometimes you want to go buck-wild, get up, shout and dance (black folx dancing, not just screaming and jumping ). Playing and performing your own music is good and all, but it's not necessarily a better concert depending on what the audience is looking for. I mean, Lil' Jon is obviously much more likely to get the girls popping than The Roots. I'm more likely to buy the latter's CD, but if I'm looking to have a great, wild time at a concert, I'm going to the former.
