His contract doesn't indicate the level of leadership and stability he has established with this team. Also, aside from Amen, FVV is Ime's guy. He is the Rockets' quiet leader and is the player closest with our coaching staff. There are players that you just don't move when your coach has exceeded expectations on a team without a superstar (yet).
With that bond, I’ve been thinking lately if we could do a wink-wink deal — ie, we exercise the TO to sign him for super cheap a year later as a free agent … like a balloon payment, resulting in same total cash as the other way. but I wouldn’t do that if he has a poor showing in the playoffs. And I still might not do it.
Stone is absolutely trolling and should be investigated if he brings this scrub back for any amount he is so garbage offensively, and as a short fat PG, he will continue to age like a peeled banana left out in the sun
even if he was making some of his shots… 1) his slow tempo play doesn’t fit the rest of our personnel 2) he doesn’t make anyone else better as a playmaking distributor 3) he’s aged so rapidly he cannot drive and convert anymore let him go
Yeah, I was convinced we should bring him back as a bench player, but hell no. If Ime would play him 40 minutes in a game like tonight, there is absolutely no hope for next year.
That's the biggest reason Fred needs to go. I do not trust Ime to relegate him to a bench role(which he'd suck at anyway). He'll still be starting next season if he's on the roster. Just decline the third year option and let him walk.
Fred just needs to go. if he wasn't in the team this year, we would still make the playoffs with a much better Cam&Reed
And he shot 38% overall from the field. I looked at his numbers this year. Fred played only 60 games for the Rockets this season thanks to the ankle injury. He made half or more of his shots only 12 times all year. That's a mere 20% of the time. For a guy who gets as much playing time as he does, dominates the ball, and jacks up a lot of shots, those are horrific numbers. Reed might be a downgrade defensively(although even that's debatable), but he would never shoot that poorly over an entire season.
Fred is going to have a big game tonight. Amen, too. I think JG is JG. I wanted to be wrong (as badly as I was about the Lowry/ABrooks debate way back when), but I think we have an athletic, streaky shooter at best.
