I'm with you, I love the Marauders! The only problem I saw with it was that Ford decided to go N/A with the 4V 4.6 from the Cobra/Mach 1 instead of the supercharged 4.6 4V from the 03-04 SVT Cobra. Now these Cobras will be considered classics. First Mustang supercharged from the factory. Also first to have an independent rear suspension and a six speed manual. I've seen some dyno at 390hp/425tq with a paper filter and stock exhaust.
I'm with you man... but the GTR just doesnt do it for me... for 80k i would rather spend the money importing a r34 + lhd conversion
Dude, what the hell is that supposed to even mean? How the hell do you know if he can afford that or not?
I couldn't disagree more. Granted it's entirely subjective, but the only Mustang owners I ever knew (myself included) greatly preferred the look of the GT hatch to the LX coupe, and the only Mustang owners I knew who preferred the notch LX were the hardcore 1/4-mile guys who wanted the lighter, more rigid frame that the coupe provided. +/- weight = +/- horsepower, and that 200 or so lbs makes a difference when you're cutting weight for an extra .10/second.
I actually meant to add LX hatch along with the GT hatch vs. the LX notch. One buddy's LX hatch in particular was freakin' beautiful and was one of the fastest Mustangs I'd been in.
I think these old Celica 4 wheel drive turbos are going to be valuable some day -- another rare modern sports car.
Well, i'm not trying to just post pics of Lamborghinis and saying yeah those will be a classic someday. I'm trying to think of real examples of rare cars that aren't classics yet, but may be someday because of their rarity/ special add ons. I don't think the Hemi Cuda' is the best looking car in the world, but some versions have gone for a million plus at auction.
For the final year, 1987, Buick introduced the GNX at $29,000. Produced by McLaren/ASC, Buick underrated the GNX at 276 hp (206 kW) and a very substantial 360 lb·ft (488 N·m) of torque.[2] This was created so as to be "Grand National to end all Grand Nationals." Changes made included a special Garrett turbocharger with a ceramic-impeller blowing through a more efficient intercooler and a "CERMATEL (Ceramic/Aluminum) coated" pipe connecting the intercooler to the engine. A GNX specific EEPROM, low-restriction exhaust with dual mufflers, reprogrammed Turbo Hydramatic 200-4R transmission with a custom torque converter and transmission cooler, and unique differential cover/panhard bar included more of the performance modifications. Exterior styling changes include vents located on each front fender, 16 inch black mesh style wheels with VR-speed rated tires, and deletion of the hood and fender emblems. The interior changes of the GNX included a serial number on the dash plaque and a revised instrument cluster providing analog Stewart-Warner gauges, including an analog turbo boost gauge. The GNX was claimed as the fastest production sedan ever built at that time. link
