Not a Kevin Love fan, even a lesser fan of him as a center...... He has put up decent stats on a horrible team, and he looks like he gets easily pushed around in the paint.
What the hell? People here always b**** and moan about the team not playing D and you suggest the Rox should go after Love?
I thought you said Yao is done, now you acknowledge that teams will start fronting him. People don't front a guy who is done, you are 100/100 contradicting yourself kid.
You said "It's obvious Yao is done." I'm willing to entertain the possibility that he could be done if he gets injured, but that is far from obvious. He's still playing effectively and seems to be improving. What's to say that managing his minutes better after a corrective surgery on his foot won't help avert an injury? We simply don't know whether he is done or not. Whether he'll be back to his pre injury self or if he'll hurt his foot again and hang it up. So what's the damn point of all of these ridiculously premature threads that purport to know about Yao's health far more than what doctors have said they don't know themselves. /Thread
I don't believe anyone has mentioned the biggest problem with this idea. Minnesota will never trade Love. When you are a rebuilding team you don't trade a 22-year old player who is just coming into his own and is improving upon is 14 points 11 rebounds, double-double average in 28 minutes from the year before. You should learn something about management before posting. Even if the main idea of a post is something worth talking about a bunch of moronic things like the Brad Miller bit make your post completely worthless.
"Yao is done"? The post is really not worth discussing. Yao's height is a nightmare to other teams. No one, again NO ONE in the league can stop him if he is close to the rim and has the ball. I am glad that Rockets is the only team do not need to face that problem. Just imagine you were a coach that was going to play Rockets, what your plan would be? From the player side, when facing Yao inside, what are you going to do? Relay on the referee or your jump shoot? Do you forget what Ron Artest did under that basket? If considering the money flow (to have Yao) into the franchise, no franchise in this league will give up on him. unless Yao's body really could not play. Can Yao play 24 minutes? Case closed.
"Yao is done" thead number 10084754. How about we give him more than FOUR freaken games before we completely write him off?
Done as an effective center we can fully rely on. If we were to truly contend, we would have to have Yao bang in the paint for more than 24+ minutes. He can't as his health won't let him so as a result, he is "done". L2read
I like Kevin Love, but he is sort of in the David Lee, Luis Scola mold, and not really a center, more of a bruising PF. DD
first of all, jeffries isn't a scrub. he's just offensively challenged. he is a good rebounder and a good defender, who can guard practically anyone, but a center. and are there not enough threads concerning yao as it is? i didn't realize it was so obvious that he was done, did something happen in that game we didnt play last night?
Health won't let him or the doctors/rockets won't let him? Pretty he and his health want to play more.
Jordan Hill and a veteran backup should be serviceable at the big spot for years to come but he needs to be surrounded by a couple star impact players. The thing with Centers is serviceable can get you buy if you have other impact players surrounding them. Basically, what we have for the future can do the dirty work for the future. Jordan Hill should be able to do that and more. Patrick Patterson could be a 20/10 power forward easily, but not the type of player that takes over a game. Seems like we should be pretty well off for the next five years at PG if Ish continues to improve with AB & Lowry holding value and maybe Sergio Lull's situation pans out. The SG spot has some potential with Martin, Lee, Taylor, and yes Budinger (who is more of a 2 guard than 3.). The SF spot is up for grabs and thats where the "star impact player" will most likely need to come from. Star Centers are just real hard to come by. Like one every 3 drafts basically. There really isnt much out there to trade for and I dont think that Kevin Love is the answer to that spot. IMO you should work with what you have and hope to land a stud in the draft. The Rockets essentially should have around 3 first round picks in the next two years to get at least one breakout superstar. I expect Morey to swing for the fences in the next two drafts if this team under achieves this season. Time to do your homework Morey.
Yao's minutes do need to increase if he's gonna be a real factor, that's not in doubt. If he can't play more than 24 min, he is done as a star. But in his time on the floor his numbers are right in line Per 36 Min 21.9 PPG 11.1 RPG 3.0 BPG 49% FG% (Thats a little down, but not much given rust factor) The rockets paint defense goes up substantially when he's in the game. He still has trouble on PnR defense, but he always sucked at that. It's all about one time on court, and all indications show his minutes will go up soon, they're already wanting to abandon the back to back policy.
