Yeah, I guess I just typed article....when I should have typed something else, but thank god you are here as the context policia...I mean...you should zip over to the white house...they need your help STAT ! Long summer, and it is fun to speculate about it...at least a tad. Best post in this thread ! I love how people complain about the whining, by whining about the whiners.....a vicious circle ensues ! DD
Wait a minute, are you also saying Yao is crazy? Remember Yao actually DID say he was just like Nash. I remember that being printed. Believe it or not, I also remember JVG DID make the comment about his wife and shopping money and it was in the context of Novak and Spanoulis not playing. That's one of the reasons why as funny as the wife spending money comment sounds, it really isn't quite so much when you realize JVG actually did say that. I am 100 percent sure that both comments above were reported by Chronicle reporters.
Let me tell you about a little book, b-ball scientist, that will change your life. D I A N E T I C S by L. Ron Hubbard I can arrange for a free scanning session for you too.
I don't know if any of you remember when JVG's car got destroyed in New York airport runway, the pictures in the paper showed a late model Honda Civic. The guys wife is obviously so money hungry that he can't even buy himself a decent car. The article can't even be consistent in their characterization of JVG, is he a petty dictator hell bent on his will, that he will keep a Steve Nash type talent off the floor just to spite his bosses. Or is he some sort or eunich that can't stand up to his wife when it come to matters of his own team? Funny article, and no there is not even a grain of truth in this.
I demand that JVG out himself right now, he's probably the one that started all the fire JVG threads just to throw us off the scent.
Yes of course T-mac and Yao will say they wanted JVG back no player wants to be known as a coach killer. Yao was openly critical of JVG's rotation after the Jazz series especially about Snyder not getting minutes. If JVG wanted to defend his decision not to play V-span all he had to do is let the guy have enough minutes to hang himself. Instead he never gave the guy a shot and let him rot on the bench and it definately was part of the reason he lost his job. Every coach in the NBA must control and inspire his team if they want to have a future coaching. JVG's methods to control and inspire made him a lot of enemies. He was a my way or the highway type of coach and that's what the Rockets needed when he first took over the team. Problem is the team changed, but JVG didn't.
What makes more sense was that, if your facts about V-Span's father's death are correct, the email is OBVIOUSLY wrong about that point. Granted, it's just one of many points, but when an email claims someone was prevented from taking care of a suicidal mother grieving over her husband's recent death, when in actuality, that couldn't have factually happened, you'd be an idiot to put any trust in that email.
Some people can be really sensitive in our American culture... V-Span probably got offended... cuz he's a weenie. Greece's Steve Nash... yeah I could go be the local Junior High's Steve Nash too I guess... I'll definately take Franchise and Scola over Billy any day. And I'm glad we're getting a new coach... but I also believe JVG was all about winning... even if he was so pessimistic all the time.
Calm down. I didn't say that everything was factual. What I said that there is an element of truth to it and that there is stuff there that makes sense. If Vspan did say these things, I wouldn't put it past him because well...you know how he spouted off about the Rockets keeping him prisoner here and that they cannot hold him. It sorta actually does sound like him. If there are embellishments, then it's a very creative writer or...Vspan himself overstated the facts.

In fact this much I know if you want to generalize about Greeks. The Greeks I know tend to embellish the story a little here and there and focus on colorful storytelling. Not to mention that the guys I know are cocky confident and really don't care what other people think.
No, nothing wrong there. It said his mother was depressed because of his father's death. So it doesn't matter WHEN his father dead - one week ago, or one year ago, or 10 years ago.

As you would expect, progress is coming in small steps for Vassilis Spanoulis. The star of the Greek national team had 10 points, eight assists and four turnovers in 22 minutes against Milwaukee. "Every day for me is a new lesson," Spanoulis said. "I learn new things every day about the NBA, because it's totally different than playing in Europe. Every day I'm learning my teammates a little better, and that makes things better for me." Spanoulis' tallest teammate is quite impressed. "He is great," said Yao Ming. "He can see the court. He always makes the right decision. He makes passes to the right people, and passes are right on target. "Give him time, and I think he will maybe be like Steve Nash one day." http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/feigen/4328224.html Quote to note Not that anyone ever suspected that Jeff Van Gundy is wary of rookie mistakes, but when speaking of last season's Knicks, he offered this week's finishing quote. "Everybody gets excited about youth except the coach, because he knows youth means mistakes, mistakes mean losses, losses mean you're fired. While everyone else was pumped up, "We got four rookies, we got four rookies,' you know, my (backside) ain't going to be here very long." http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2006/09/tmac_on_line_one.html TMac on line one He (T-Mac) said Vassilis Spanoulis has "a tremendous upside." http://www.clutchfans.net/news/1385/spanoulis_feels_deceived_by_rockets/ Spanoulis feels deceived by Rockets Houston guard speaks out in Greek newspaper, says he could return to Europe SATURDAY, JANUARY 20, 2007 3:02 PM CST By Clutch Copyright 2007 ClutchFans.net Spanoulis feels deceived by Rockets An interview with Rocket guard Vassilis Spanoulis was published on Saturday by Eleftherotypia, a daily newspaper out of Athens, Greece, and the 6-foot-4 point was not kind to the Rockets organization. "The GM of the team was in Athens frequently, they were calling me on the phone every day," says Spanoulis of Rockets GM Carroll Dawson before he signed with Houston. "So much money, so much attention, so much interest -- just for me to play for one minute or not at all?" I can't find the quote about his wife and spending money beling lost because of playing rookies like Novak and Spanoulis but I KNOW I read that on this forum before I was a member. It was either the Chronicle or sports radio or rockets.com that had it. I am willing to bet that I am not the only one who will remember it and I am very sure that Clutch can find this because it WAS posted here. All of these comments seem to me that to suggest that anyone that even considers this "crazy" is pure BS Sam. Whether or not this "article" is true don't act like there's nothing to some of this because obviously many things WERE said. I don't find it amusing at all that Yao DID say he was like Nash and you act like people "nut cases" when they cite that. While wer are all certainly rightfully so lambasting whether or not this "article" is legit we need to hold the SAME standard to people like Sam Fisher who seems to regularly post fiction and insult others who actually post truth.
Have you considered the fact that BOTH articles come from before the season started, and Yao/McGrady had yet to actually see Spanoulis in practice? All they had to see were probably some highlight reels and probably the USA game, certainly he looked good there. After the season started.... I don't remember Yao/McGrady ever mentioning Spanoulis's name at all. I'm sure once they actually saw him practice, they realized he was not nearly as good as they originally thought, and not wanting to throw a teammate under the bus, simply remained silent instead.
