There is no way that JVG is that big of an a-hole. If Span was better than Rafer, he would have played. JVG is all about winning, and I don't think anyone can deny that. How many season tickets did he buy for the Rowdies?
Ginobli, for sure. I respect Parker, and Spanoulis would throw the opposing team too many passes to warrant any ill will.
Exactly, JVG had one goal and that was to win and he put the players out there that he believed would get it done and they did over 50 times during the season. But of course JVG has become the "Great Satan" on this board and people seem to want to blame him and tag him with every negative thing that has occurred, regardless of how outlandish the claims are
Maybe JVG bought those seats for PR, because they told him to, or he did it as smoke and mirrors. Besides who doesn't want a lively areana? Question: We could have had Mike James all along!?!!? WTF
who cares if spanoulis plays for the spurs... we have nothing to worry about and besides, we got scola who should be a lot better than spanoulis anyway. And what difference does it make if that crap is true, if jeff van gundy did do whatever spanoulis claims then it just means that jvg helped up get scola and francis.... Thanks gundy, you are the best!
Then I'll buy the beans cause there is a lot of chatter on the Spurs board and realgm about this subject. http://www.******************/viewtopic.php?t=702794 Vasilis Spanoulis had the chance on Saturday not only to play once again against Tony Parker but to talk to him as well. The two of them also met on Sunday during the break between the two games of the tournament (France vs Slovenia and Greece vs Serbia). "I know we got you" Parker said. The two of them (born in '82) know each other since 2000 when Greece played against France twice. The newly wed star of the Spurs tried to convince his new teammate by telling him "Reconsider. I think it would be better for you if you played with the Spurs". Parker has won 3 titles with the Spurs. Spanoulis has expressed an interest in returning to Greece, even though he has been offered the chance to play with the best team in the world (as the americans call the NBA champions). But since he has not been released yet, he appears to be reconsidering his initial decision, something that wouldn't have happened if he was traded to a team other than the Spurs. or maybe aliens told him to no kidding...but Mike james didnt sign with the rockets because of a trade kicker clause, remember? thats a GMs job, not a coaches. its disgusting how people look for a scapegoat so blindly
Spanoulis will be both closer to and further from being released from the Spurs on Tuesday. It all depends on what San Antonio will do. Ime Udoka has signed a 2-year contract for 2 millions per year and has become the 14th player. This is where Spanoulis come sinto play. If the Spurs want to sign 2 more players, they will have to buy out Spanoulis. If Spanoulis is released in favor of a more experienced guard, he will receive half of the 1,944,000 dollars on his contract. The Spurs have an option for a third year worth 2,088,000. Even if the Spurs keep Spanoulis, they have the option to release him next summer. The final countdown will begin on Tuesday, that is if RC Buford wants to release Spanoulis. Spurs have both the watermelon and the knife right now. Vasilis can only wait. At least things are moving on.
"LOL!" Using your logic, we'll never know whether astronauts smoked crack while on the moon because no source will prove or disprove it.
We will get to see in preseason when Panathanoikos (sp?) plays the rockets. V Span will want to play his best against us. We can see then if he really was ever able to "ABUSE" all the other guards on the Rockets. OBTW, the list of guards he was abusing wasn't all that great last year. They couldn't "D" up anyone else either.....
Ok, it's time to stop screwing around and start kicking some asses in the Olympics. These ferners are startin to get a lil too big for their britches!
Why is everyone ignoring the fact that the guy absolutely sucked when he was on the floor? No one in the NBA would say this guy should start when he can't even clean-up against the garbage time guys...
a lot of it i feel is bs but these are my thoughts: vspan looks to be a decent/solid nba player given the right chance and opportunity. he needed a coach that would give him that. JVG was not that man, if Rudy T was around that could have been the case who knows. Whenever span was on the floor he hustled but did not make a lot of smart plays (tos, fouls) he has to work on his jumper though. while jvg produced results his system was more of a "whats good now" instead of trying to produce something that would be "good now" and possibly "great later" his coaching style was a bit short-sighted in getting vet players on their last legs, great on chemistry and smarts but not much else. thats why two seasons ago the team fell completely apart with injuries. constantly bringing in new guys hurt. at the end of the day i like what jvg did for the rockets, brought them back into the playoffs, created the red rowdies....but i am more looking forward to adeleman and what he does with our young guys. span may turn out to be a great backup to parker but at the time being able to get scola, whose promise and potential looks to be bigger than span and he has already an impressive resume, and also butler was too good to pass up considering the depth a guard and lack of depth up front
Hmmm.... A whole pack of truths, half truths and horse crap rolled into one. Light the stick, and get high on it. Don't post on cf.net though.
