[Funny] Christian Bale loses it on set of Terminator

No different than an athlete ripping into a teammate on the sideline for not doing his job. It can get just as intense/heated, despite the lack of physicality simply because of the amount of emotion, preparation and focus that goes into it.

I did a little bit of acting before, and I'm a pretty chill dude, but I remember ripping into someone hardcore who wasn't doing their job on the set and kept repeatedly screwing me and others up.

This kind of stuff happens to almost everybody, so all the people shunning Bale in this thread need to seriously check themselves.

 

Christian is just being a big dick playa.

One thing I noticed that I think is being overlooked all over the internets is how he starts out in an American accent but starts switching back and forth between that and his British one. I remember him saying once that he doesn't even remember his original accent anymore. It kind of reminded me of Robert Downey Jr's character in Tropic Thunder, the scene where he breaks down and starts speaking in the voice of various characters near the end.

 

There is understandably and briefly getting angry, and there is inexcusably going nuts and overboard. I'd say that it is pretty fair to say that this was a case of the latter.

 

Without knowing more I'm not sure Christian Bale was acting like a prima donna. This doesn't sound like a spoiled actor wigging out because someone brought him a soy latte with Brazillian cinamon instead of Kenyan cinamon but someone trying to get there work done and somebody screwing up. He might be a bit overboard but I've heard even harsher language in kitchens, construction sites and even architecture offices.

I think this is the two sided edge of celebrity. As much as people want to come out and kiss your @ss people also want to look to see you fail. Without knowing more though I don't think Christian Bale acted much differently than many of us would if we had been working long hours and trying to do some important and someone screwed up.

 

Apparently "Bruce" is the Director of Photography.

That's a pretty important person on the hierarchy when it comes to making a movie. Pretty crazy that Bale would talk to him like that.

 

I was going to say that too, except with better grammar. I think he's a below average actor and a second-rate movie star, too. And, it's a little hard to take seriously him taking his art seriously when he's a below average actor working on a sequel action flick in a franchise that had already jumped the shark with the previous installment.

 

Wow, I dont care how much I was getting paid, I would kick his ass if he talked to me like that. What a prick.

 

More reasons why he's a D**CH*B*G:

1. You're a professional, Mr. Bale. No matter if the sky starts thundering, earth is shaking, car's horn is a-blasting, YOU'RE A PROFESSIONAL. Act like one, stay in character, and pretend you know how to act.

2. No HUMAN should be spoken to like that, no matter what they do. There are thousands upon thousands of words in the English vocabulary to disseminate the problem, solve it, and peacefully keep in track with the goal at hand.

I just thought about these. Sorry, but Mr. Bale, aside from being a medium-to-above-average actor, packs a very LOW human punch.

Honestly before this happened I thought all actors were people too. The media since then has informed me they are not, in fact they are stoic statues that never act or react innapropriately, in fact they are not allowed to have an outburst. Look, people are a**holes, but they redeem themselves in other means. The truth to it is, so what, he exploded and probably should have kept his cool. Meh. People do that all the time. Believe me, IF OBAMA did this I'd be pissed off because he is paid to keep his cool and think. Bale is an actor, he lies to us, and up until now he'd been doing a good job of that.

I'm sure the DP ruined a very expensive shot, and the director wasn't doing a thing about it. Bale was in character in the middle of a take and this DBag walks on to check to see if his lighting is correct? Bale had every reason to snap...

when the director says action and the cameras are rolling, you don't go and check to see if your lighting is accurate...

I've seen newscasters in the same fit of rage. The talent sits and waits all day long for their shot. all of the backstage stuff should be done and handled...

there's a reason why Bale is so damn good on screen, he is a dedicated and intense actor who doesn't like breaking character in the middle of a scene so some lackey can fix something...

 

with a name like terminator, it'll be a big hit even if it sucks. i'll probably go see it cuz it's the terminator, man!

 

while that may be true, there's gotta be a better way of punishing the guy instead of stripping his dignity in front all his peers. a simple "i want that guy fired for incompetence asap" to the director would've worked. bale just went bananas, making himself looks stupid.

 

The guy Bale was yelling at was the director of photography, but that is not Bruce. The DP is Shane Hurlbut. When Bale yelled "Shut the **** up, Bruce" he was talking to Bruce Franklin, the assistant director and associate producer, who actually defends Bale later on.

Bale comes off as a dick, but I have read in several places about this incident that this DP he goes off on is known for getting in the eyeline of actors, which is what pisses Bale off. Apparently it is very much a no-no on the set.

To me, more than anything, this makes the director McG look like a doormat since he doesn't really even intervene and his main contribution is "I didn't see it happen."

He's a Brit, they've all got a stick up their asses and beat women... whats the big deal here? Sean Connery told Barbara Walters it was perfectly fine to slap a woman around.

Christian Bale is dedicated to making a good movie, I appreciate that.
