People are dunking on Carlson for parroting Kremlin talking points ("NATO seems to exist to torment Putin"). He can be right that it would be a mistake for the US to get involved militarily with Russia over Ukraine, but he can be wrong about how he gets to that point. That doesn't make it right when he carries water for Putin, Orban, etc.

I'm not a geopolitical expert and can agree with you that, when it comes to Ukrainian security and sovereignty, it is bad to appease Putin. We've played the shadow war game for a while by aiding and selling arms to the Ukrainian government while Russia did the same for separatists in the east. But, I don't know what should be done if the actual Russian military invades Ukraine short of direct military confrontation between American and Russian troops in a more overt and serious way than what's happened in Syria. President Biden's move to pull out of Afghanistan indicates that he is unwilling to engage in large-scale foreign wars that have no clear mission or ongoing American interest. An actual war with Russian over Ukraine doesn't seem to fit the bill. None of this absolves Carlson from adding yet another entry into his ongoing "Palin' Around with Authoritarians" catalog.
