You would think a coach as good as Carlisle would be able to make this work. Or maybe coaching is still over rated as hell.
I, for one, welcome his nonsense. Considering that Dallas is a probable 1st round match up for us, anything that foments problems for them is a plus in my book. He should go ahead and demand the starting position over Dirk. Maybe demand he be moved to shooting guard?
doesnt that trade turn into a 2nd round pick(s) eventually? so if the pelicans make it this year the rockets may never get one. but the pelicans would have to play out of this world the rest of the way, and they have already been doing that for a week or two so they are due a skid.
The pick has the same protection on it until 2020. So if the Pelicans make the playoffs, and the protection allows them to keep the pick, it just keeps on pushing back till the next year. If the pick falls between 15 and 19 somehow, Morey & co. might actually prefer the pick falling back next year for the chance that the Pelles drop off and they get a better pick the next year. However, with A. Davis getting better and better its hard to see the Pelles missing the playoffs much in the future. I'd like to convey it this year, and would gladly take one of the prospects at 13 or 14.
Father time with a swift kick to the Dirk is what's ailing the Mavericks. Dirk reminds me of Jabbar's final years with the Lakers. Trotting back late, playing token defense and having go to moves one by one become gone too moves.
People here ridicule McHale with the most disrespecting terms...but Coach has seamlessly integrated Brewer, Smith, and now Prige into the team chemistry without a single problem. The injuries he had to manage around this year were significant. Now, the ultimate challenge is getting D12 back into the rotation while maintaining and actually improving team chemistry even more. X's and O's are way over rated at the NBA level....and in comparison to team chemistry, they pale in importance. McHale's work this season far exceeds Carlisle and most other NBA coaches...in spite of those who show their complete ignorance in the game threads here every game. Its been a great season so far...but the greatest is yet to come.
Why did they trade for rondo again when they have barrea and Harris? Lol amare, okay ur still relevant. They need to get back to playing defense. Think coach Carlisle can turn it around.
Probably a 0% chance of the pick being the 15th pick. If NO makes the playoffs there are several teams in the East that will make the playoffs with a worse record. Best case scenario right now is they miss the playoffs and we get the 14th pick. If they make the playoffs, it isn't inconceivable that they could win enough games to keep their pick with teams in the East having poor records and a team like Toronto in a free fall.
What makes this funny is that Amar'e addressed his teammates and told them this while he was soaking in one of his regular red wine baths. Chandler was upset by this and decided to one up him by bathing in a tub of Moët. Rondo wasn't fully aware of what was going on and Dirk convinced him into bathing in a tub of German Lager. Fun times in Dallas, indeed.
A lot of Mavs fans are starting to turn on Carlisle... If anything, he is the reason why they are even in the playoffs. I would take Carlisle in a heat beat. After Pop as the head honcho, Carlisle, Thibs and Bud are in that second tier of elite coaches.
And the type of coach that doesn't deal well with players who play differently from his style. McHale managed to cut down Josh Smith's long 2s by 70% almost instantly, made him a playmaker off the bench. Carlisle meanwhile can't even get Rondo to even try to compromise his style while every other player has been suffering on offense with him. History of Carlisle is that you play his way or no way. It's why Larry Bird fired him, since he refused to develop Paul George. Carlisle is a great coach. But he really restricts your play acquisition since he doesn't work well that's not a great fit.
Carlisle may be a hard-ass, but that isn't necessarily a knock on him. The dude took Dirk and a bunch of quality role players to a title over one of the strongest teams in recent history. We aren't talking about Byron Scott; I consider his personality as something to work around rather than avoid
They have good reason to turn on him...with a starting 5 of Dirk, Chandler, Parsons, Rondo, and Monte? If a coach can't produce with that line-up, he deserves to be fired. The guy is way over rated...and has always had trouble handling NBA players.
This is why I feel mchale is a good coach. Players love him and respect him enough and has more of a freestyle offense. As long as he has a good cast of assistants I think he is good for this team bc players want to play for him
