I liked their very first EP that they released only to 4 of their friends but I used telekinesis to steal it from one of said friend's apartments, but after they laid down their first studio track I was so over them and their new corporate-machine hackjob sound.

do yourself a favor and check out This Will Destroy You. Amazing live show. and Russian Circles.

I am very pissed that I can't go to this show. Some crap about my niece and her oh-so precious birthday. I told my brother it's not that big of a deal, she's gonna have about 60 more birthdays. he wasn't buying it. sucks.

I'm kidding of course. kind of.

    Day One
Foot Patrol: 9/10 - Extremely entertaining.

Shonen Knife: 7/10 - Good, but not great.

Russian Circles: 5/10 - Meh. They lose points for stopping...and then restarting a song because of a helicopter distraction.

The Sword: 10/10 - Metal. At its finest. Their Heavy is heavier than your Heavy.

Melt Banana: 10/10 - Holy crap! My mind is still not right. Total control of noise.

Death: 6/10 - I get it. They're old. They were original. Yeah...I get it.

Yeasayser: 4/10 - It really didn't translate live. Not to mention...their sound check was longer than their performance. Weak.

Les Savy Fav: 9/10 - I've seen them better. Really...just too short.

The Jesus Lizard: 11/10 - I've seen them many times. This was probably the best. The drum solo was unreal. Then the "encore" was just as long as the original set. My brain hurts.

I'm jealous of you guys that are there today. Let me know how Atlas Sound is. They're the ones I'm most pissed about missing.

apparently i was stalking the futants!

foot patrol - disclaimer - friends of mine so im biased, but they definitely grabbed the attention of alot of people. and the singers foot fetish is not a gimmick!
nightmarchers - drive like jehu guys - came off like a punk-rock springsteen.
    shonen knife
russian circles - never heard of these dudes, but enjoyed it.
mc chris - about as entertaining as a dude w/ a laptop can be - funny!
    melt banana - AWESOME!
no age - recently got into these guys and they delivered on the live show - shoegazer textures and songs w/ a punk rock 'tude.
    7 seconds - meh
    death - meh
****ed up - AWESOME! best thing i saw yesterday.
shearwater - if your drummer is named thor and he has a mullet you know you are doing something right.
face to face - melodic punk w/ the anthemic, sing-along chorus is just dated and cliched - i was infront of the stage the jesus lizard were about to play on and pretty much everyone on that side was flipping off or heckling the band
jesus lizard - not a huge fan, but they definitely deliver on the live show - they were what i expected them to be.

looking forward to them - not that big a deerhunter fan, but i really like atlas sound (singers home recording solo project). unfortunately mika miko is playing at the same time and they are breaking up after this show, so i will probably watch most of them.

With the weather today, I wonder if it's ACL 2009 redux.

i lasted about 3 hours and had to get the hell out of there - the rain was not letting up and it was beginning to get really, really muddy.

i did see mika miko, atlas sound (great!), harlem, why? and broadcast.

probably blew my only chance to see danzig, but i couldnt take the rain and mud anymore. to quote danny glover in lethal weapon I, II, II and IV "im too old for this s***!"

Yep. I only made it through HEALTH. Had to bail...

Day ONE was worth the price of the weekend pass, so I'm not the least bit bummed.

I was at all of these. Great sets. This was one of Mika Miko's last shows, so it was nice to be able to catch them one last time before they split up.

First night by far overshadowed the second night. Jesus Lizard absolutely destroyed it. It was surreal.

In the middle of JL's set, the singer of Les Savy Fav made his way into the crowd and started letting lose with everyone else. It was awesome.

    Bands I saw:

    Young Widows
    Times New Viking
    Shonen Knife
    No Age
    Todd Barry
    Yeasayer
    Les Savy Fav
    Jesus Lizard
    The Sword
    Mika Miko
    Atlas Sound
    Broadcast
    Strange Boys

The rain became too overwhelming in Day 2. I had to split after a few hours, couldn't take it.

Oh, and let me take a minute to just say how not good that F *ck Buttons band is. They don't deliver in any level whatsoever.

    Other than that, great weekend!
