So - you're arguing it's not ethical to publish these transcripts and/or that it's not within the sphere of the public interest?

I didn't go to J-school but i'm pretty sure this is just flat wrong by any commonly understood definition of journalistic ethics - doubtless you'd find pro-Trump flacks willing to argue otherwise but it's an absolute no-brainer.

I don't think Trump needs help from anyone in embarrassing himself. He is a successful sole proprietor in that regard.

I heard that the guy at the Boy Scouts Jamboree wasn't actually Donald Trump, but was an impersonator instead and that Trump is now denying having ever been at that event.

    Couple comments on reddit:

"So in public he's the toughest negotiator and a great strong leader. In private, he begs the Mexican president not to make him look silly by telling the truth."

"Just imagine what he does to the Russian president.."

    What a cuck LOL

Nice! I'll make sure to use this next time something about a democratic candidate leaks! Thanks!

LOL... it would be funny if Alex Baldwin was filling in between SNL tapings.

The press and the leakers show that fighting spirit of America, one that many in this administration want to erase.

on a side note, sarah should ask for a 100,000 raise. That must be the most difficult job, spinning lie after lie.
And dare I say it. I'm going to throw a wrench in this thread, she is kind of cute when she deceivingly smiles. I might make her an entry in that women everybody hated but you'd still bang thread. (ducks to avoid stones)

I have to admit, she is handling the job as well as possible. As someone that has in the past held a similar function (not in politics), crisis management is an important and difficult part of any comms role and she has to be exhausted at all she is required to do to keep the plates spinning. There are a few times she chuckles... I think even she finds her programmed responses to be funny. I bet at the end of the day she and her colleagues get hammered at the local saloon.

I think she does a helluva job and I'll echo @conquistador#11 that there are moments when watching her that I find her to be cute. She seems to have good personality from what she can convey in that setting. Definitely a smart move to have her take Spicer's gig, he was awful.

The job is awful, it's even worse doing it for a lie machine of a president, but Spicer made it even WORSE by being bad at it.

A president of the United States actually said these words- “I am the world’s greatest person that does not want to let people into the country."

All of you Trump supporters/apologists just need to hang your heads in ****ing shame. Christ.

Is that worse than him being mad at one of our closest allies for not being as nice to him on the phone as Putin was?

    :(

Love the first comment, but you have me ducking wrenches, stones, and kitchen sinks with the second (being thrown at you, of course, but there are so many of them that they seem to be flying around the inside of our house;))! When my partner and I see Huckabee-Sanders doing her usual routine after taking over for the now late, lamented Spicy, we're calling her all sorts of uncomplimentary names, with accompanying adjectives, or course, while reaching for the remote, because we consider her to be an out and out lying b****. Heck, she relishes lying. She knows she's lying. At least Spicy couldn't tell the "truth" from the lies half the time. It made him a bit endearing. And cute? In any way, shape, or form? I'm sure her parents find her cute, and her grandparents. That's a given. I'll give her that much.

It's just so embarrassing, the way he speaks. Even as bad as Trump has been, when I first saw this quote I literally thought it was a joke.

Have you read it? I'm going to take a guess - if you read it, you'll actually like it.

Right... and what would even possess him to compliment Putin in a call with another leader? Sounds so junior high, trying to make someone "jelly".

Public interest based on what? I bet many think complete transparency is ultimately in the public interest.

There is no way that things do not get just epic levels of weird if somehow Trump wins a 2nd term. Imagining him 7 years older with prolonged stress from being president.

To be fair to trump though, his call with Australia does as least make him seem genuine in his fear of refugees and not just a political wedge issue

Did you feel the same way about the leaked DNC emails?

Didn't think so, your partisanship is showing.

They're well within their right to publish these transcripts, but I assume that transcripts as embarassing as these are as available for other presidents with the right incentive, except they weren't published or known until much later...like after the fact when they accomplished something. Reagan was half proud liar, half proud buffoon but the people didn't realize it (some never will) and Congress worked with him because he got elected.

Just because I don't like his toxic agenda doesn't mean I can't ignore that news orgs are selling for viewership than a supposed responsibility as the 4th estate. The former is how we elected the CHEETUS in the first place.

Publishing these leaks is more a continuation of emotionally charged slop journalism than the other side of the spectrum, such as the Panama Papers leak.
