Any sport may have time wasting but it doesn't originate from taking advantage of the 'good nature' of others.

And there IS a way to avoid it. Don't kick the ball out when they flop. Keep playing and take advantage of it. I'd be willing to bet a lot of the floppers would think twice about staying on the ground.

I'd also have a minimum wait time for players carted off on stretcher. That way the guy from Ghana can't be taken off by stretcher only to return 3 minutes later.

I guess recently it has become a bigger problem. I doubt anyone would be looked in good light if they did take advantage of the man down. It is something that has been done for years and i doubt it will change anytime soon unless FIFA made a rule about it much like they started giving yellow cards to Floppers starting last world cup if i am not mistaken. That has definitly stopped some of it. But other than that i don't see the players changing no matter how pissed they are that they can't take advantage of it.

I agree, I believe the kicking it out deal is fairly new.....they should play on until the other team gains possession.

Really? I have heard that it's a gentlemanly thing dating back a long time; in the EPL in particular they do it a lot.

There's still way too much flopping going on. The rules haven't really helped. How many yellows were given out for flopping so far in the World Cup?

I don't see why it makes sense to do anyway. Why not wait for the team with the player down to get the ball and THEY kick it out? I mean It's not like if T-Mac goes down the Spurs are going to throw the ball out of bounds. They make us waste a foul and/or timeout. That's how it should be in soccer.

It isn't new. Its been a part of the game for a very long time. I've been playing for 26 years and remember coaches telling us to do it from a very early age.

It was a hard decision to make but i don't see them beating Argentina the way they have been playing. Mexico does get Borgetti back which is a big deal since the rest of the strikers are wasting a lot of chances these past 2 games.

I have Argentina winning this game 2-1

Im sorry i had to be the bearer of the bad news.....i would love to see an upset but i just don't see it happening.

I jsut don't see Brazil going that far in the WC. I can see them losing to Spain in the next round...granted Spain makes it through.

But then again you can never count them out.

See i would agree with you Ronaldinho is amazing but if they have Ronaldo starting who doesn't run much and just basically walks the whole time then he is not going to command attention and they will focus on Ronaldinho and not allow him to work his magic.

I keep saying and highly believe that they need to start Rubinho if they want the best chance to make it to the finals.

Brilliant article on Donovan, particularly the final paragraph. I think its important to note that Donovan was head and shoulders above both Rosicky and Essien at 17, but he hasn't pushed himself to improve since:

That's a great article. It really shines the light on how second or third teir the MLS is. He has already hit the cieling and will not get any better if he keeps dominating. That's what make good players great. You keep challenging yourself against the best to become better and better....
