I went through the roof when he stuck with it today, even after losing two defenders. Conrad is a good replacement, but you can't tell me that they shouldn't have started Johnson or Ching instead of a fourth defender.

Your ovservation is good. The US players are not as good. The criticism on the coach was not fair. I thought he played the right cards. The only question mark was Beasly, but we cant afford to sit him on the bench espeically we are short on fresh legs. 4-5-1, 4-3-3, IMO, are all bs. Blaming on formation is pathetic. Outside McBride, who else do we have to be that sharp shooter. I am sorry, Eddie Johnson is a lazy azz. He was walking more than running while on the field. We were trying to push the ball, but just lack quality. Beasly slowed the tempo too many times. Our best chance was on the left side.

Back the old days, the other team played like crazy when there is a man down on the field. I dont understand this crap sportsmanship now. If a player down and ref didnt call, play must go on. That was part of the soccer. Man now this sportsmanship thing encourages wusses to waste time.

he was acting for sure...i guess he learn't those moves from the Italians...

Does anyone know if Eissen is gonna miss the Brazil game? I heard that one yellow card is removed in the next round? If he doesn't play Ghana has no chance.

No, I dont know why the ESPN commentator have been saying it, not only this match. Very obvious mistake. The yellow cards accumlated in the group stage will be off the record when knock out round starts. Everybody starts from clean.

because if they got one this round then they would be out the first game of the knock out stage.

Sucks that my prediction came true. Regardless of what happened refs or no refs, the US team did not come to play this world cup. They need a new coach and some new sense of urgency. GOing into game 3 with only 1 shot on goal was just not acceptable. Yes the refs took this one from you but you shouldn't have been in that position. They played poorly the first two games and had to really fight for this one. Hopefully some changes will be made.

Hey if he can make the Dutch team that good i wouldn't mind having him in Iran. Ivankovic was saying he was going to leave for a while right after the world cup and a lot of rumors about who is going to suceed him has always been around. Arie Haan was one, there is a german guy, as well as our old goal keeper Abedzadeh. i just wanted a healthy team out there this WC and we didn't get it.

hmmmm. kept hoping against hope that our boys would show some spirit. it never happened and i'm not bitter. there was no way in hell we were gonna win the damn thing anyway, so now i can quit stressing and enjoy the rest of the world cup. i tend to agree that arena has been here long enough, time for a fresh approach. i refuse to believe that the us will never get it done on the world cup stage, !VIVA LOS ESTADOS UNIDO!

Donovan, Onyewu, Bocanegra, Convey, Howard, Beasley, Eddie Johnson- these are my only main-stays.

I watched Reading a lot this year, so I'm big on Convey. I think he's going to become a stalwart on the left side.

I've always liked Howard and hope he resurrects his career at Everton next campaign. If he had been in form, even with Keller's season, I would have started him in a heartbeat. I don't believe in this steady-hand approach to GK selection. I want the guy who can save a game, and Keller, despite some of his acrobatics, is mediocre in this respect. Regardless, Howard's going to fill the role by default, so you might as well start hoping for the best.

Onyewu's on his way to being world-class. Apparently he's going to sign for Middlesboro, but I hope he can parlay this World Cup into a spot on a bigger club.

Eddie Johnson can only improve, and there's no substitute for pace on the international level.

Bocanegra's about at his peak, but should maintain his form for a good number of years, since his strength as a defender isn't speed.

Donovan's still a p***y, and always has been, but he's still the most talented player on the squad.

Last there's Beasley, who's been getting a lot of flack, but I'm still high on him. The US doesn't have a player who could replace his skill-set (he plays a great through-ball when given the opportunity, like John O'Brien used to provide) and pace. If he ever developed his ice-skater figure, he would always have a spot in the starting lineup. At this point though, you really do have to consider the matchups in deciding when to play him. I don't fault Arena for sitting him against Italy, even if he had played well in the first game, which he obviously didn't.

I'm pretty excited about the future prospects for the team. I'd look at guys like Santino Quaranta, Freddy Adu of course, Eddie Gaven, Danny Szetela, Chad Marshall, Chris Rolfe, etc.. I'm sure there's some other good players in MLS, I just can't think of them. I don't think there's too many youngsters plying their trade in European clubs' youth systems either, so the bulk will come from the domestic league.

I have to reiterate what others have said- fire Bruce Arena. I don't like his very presence on the sidelines. That obese gut frightens me, and he's a dumbass tactically to boot, so that's good enough for me to show him the door. Definitely hire a European or a South American with a proven pedigree. It's hard to tell if Arena couldn't bring out a flowing offensive game or if the US just wasn't capable of that kind of game at this point.

Either way, change is needed for the sake of change.

Ahh...should I even bother to watch the game anymore? :(

Hugely disappointing that we lost to Ghana, but I knew they're a good team when I watched them play in the AFrican Cup, they're INCREDIBLY quick. Watch, they're going to give Brazil fits in the next round, and I will be rooting for them as an underdog...would love for an African team to do well.

On the other hand, I pick Argentina as the 'dark horse' who will win it all. No one is talking about them or giving them respect, I think them and Italy have a good shot at this thing.

Anyways, so out of the teams people here were rooting for, some have already been eliminated, let's recount: USA, Iran, Saudi, Ivory Coast, Korea (?), and T&T are out; Mexico and Holland remain.

Go Mexico and Holland and Ghana!

I didn't get to see the game but based on the highlights I saw it looks like the US lost this match on their own. They had the opportunities but couldn't score.

Atleast the only US goal came from a Texan.

Argentina is no longer a 'dark horse'. They are one of the favorites. I think it will be between Argentina and Brazil. Go Messi!

Korea is not out. They're playing Switzerland tomorrow, both of whom have everything to play for. There are 3 teams in Group G that are very much alive.
