Did you actually go and count the number of Replies by each person?

i actually thought the argentina/netherlands match was great. true, there was no scoring, but it was played with a lot of pace. the defense was good on both sides. it just goes to show how things vary depending on who you're playing. both these teams will be tough outs in the knockout round. as far as the us/mexico pissing contest goes, SwoLy-D, chill the **** out, we know you've got a gigantic hard-on for the mexican nationals but please, for one second, acknowledge that group D is vastly inferior to group E.

oh, hooooooooooray for the ivory coast. they were victims of being in a tough, tough group. still, they were very entertaining.

    You learn something new everyday

TheGary - i can see where your coming from saying Group D was inferior compared to the US's group. However going in the group didn't seem that weak to me except for Angola which was surprisingly good this cup. Their keeper did an amazing job of keeping them in games. Not saying Iran should have played better becuase that's my team but honestly they stunk it up and they should have been in the mix instead of outside the mix completly like they did this year. If it wasn't for injuries to key players we could have had a decent run and played much better making Group D just a bit better...but yes your right group D is much weaker a group than what the US has to face.

No moving on from there. Regardless of how difficult the groups are you can tell just by watching the games that the US is really playing bad. it's not even a matter of the other teams being that much better. The US has not shown much to make me think they would have done better in a nother group. If they were honestly playing really well and getting beat because of the harder teams i would give them that much credit. But in all honestly they have not been playing well at all and we can all see that.

Honestly..take a look at the main stat that sticks out. They have a total of 1 count them 1 shot on goal in 2 matches. That will get you no where in even the crappiest of Groups. They need to really step up there game but either way their play has been lackluster and not even par with some of the lower teams.

I was watching the Argie-Dutch match in a bar. This guy next to me spent more time talking to his buddy than watching the game but he was a Argie supporter and he kept just looking up as they'd interrupt the game with an Ivory Coast highlight. He'd jump up and start screaming (they showed the IC goals as they happened) because the IC and Holland were both wearing orange. I was laughing my ass off because then he'd turn away and when he looked back the scoreline still read 0-0. Hilarious stuff.

stack, i agree we don't look too good. hell, it doesn't matter how difficult a group is because in the end you have to play the tough teams anyway. i just can't stand by while you know who trumps up mexico. neither team is going to win the world cup, but if mexico and the us switched groups, i think we'd be into the knockout round instead.

Well it's kind of hard to say that mainly because i thought Iran would have done better and the fact that Angola really showed that they can give good teams fits and they might have done the same with US. If anything it could have been a close draw. But either way i hope they get their act together and realize what they have to do, becuase they have played very dissapointing.

Thanks for not taking enough strikers to the WC, Sven. Glad to see you making use of Theo.

You know what I love most about the W.C.? Is how it brings people together through sport and love for the beautiful game. How we forget our difference's for 90 minutes or more and have fun cheering our respective country. No politics, no race, no religion and no hate.
You know what else I love. How all this can go to hell in handbasket when our teams lose. :p Nationalism run amok, proving our worth through kicking a ball around a field, finding someone to trash and blame and most of all rubbing it in our opponents nose when we kick the crap out of them (and I literally mean kick the crap out of them). :D
I love the W.C., it's a game, it's a war, it's a festival and it's a release. If only basketball could have one on the scale of futbol. Oh that would be great. We would probably even win ;).

You know Swoly even in losing you should be happy. You guys are through to the next round as we face a monumental challenge in just trying to make it there. You guys will still probably go to the Confederations Cup and get a better seeding than us for South Africa(2010).
I think we were actually very lucky not get Mexico's group. Portugal and Iran would have played us tooth and nail and done whatever it took to beat us. We might have taken Angola lightly and been upset by them.
As it is here in this tough group we're in. We know our position no matter what the rankings say. We will always be an underdog until we start putting goals in and beating the established teams on a much more frequent basis.

I believe that Mexico and the U.S. definitely need each other in a strange way. We are hated rivals, who constantly strive to outdo each other. We both make each other play harder and better. Hopefully that desire will result in better results in the big games....we will see tomorrow. Ok Barras, Mexico's in, now let's show them, our fans and ourselves that we have it in us to do the same. Let's kick some ass....

England is going to have to get ahead early in games becuase theya re going to have to subsititute sometime and they would rather go defensive with a lone striker after they have actually gotten a lead...if not they are going to have a really hard road ahead of them with Owen not being there.

4 Strikers taken to the world cup and one that has only played 25 minutes of international play and never played for Arsenal ever.

That's sad. I feel bad for him but England still has Rooney. He is such a special player, the type that can carry a team. As long as he is healthy and match fit, England is dangerous.
