Then England will be in the first place and Sweden second. England shall face Ecuador while Sweden shall face Germany. England gains advantage if it is a draw game. :)

Yes, it was superb! This is his best game so far in the tournament. I think it was because Beckham was sent to the back yard hence most of the offensive plays had to be initiated by Cole. Beckham did a good job in the first half too.

Wow, 2-2. What a game! That was an awful clearance for England. Looks like with the draw England will have to face their hated arch-enemies--the Germans.

2-2! Couldn't believe England still cannot defeat Sweden in World Cup games. Less than one minute to go...

Looks like he is out for the rest of the cup...man that's a big blow for England and they must be glad that Rooney is back.

I'm not a Crouch fan, but I think Crouch-Rooney is a better partnership than than Owen-Rooney. Owen hasn't been the same player for a LONG time now, alot of that is due to injury.

I think regardless they would always go with Rooney - Crouch or Owens - Crouch just becuase of the mismatch he creates on set peices.

Without a doubt, Rooney is miles better than both Crouch and Owen.

Portugals coach has come out a said that Ronaldo, Deco, Costinha, Pauleta, and Nuno Valente will all sit out tomorrow's match since they are carrying yellows. Why not just forfeit? This pisses me off, I was hoping Angola could surprise everyone and make it to the second round.

Sven screwed England by taking along 17 year old Theo Walcott as their 4th striker behind an injured Rooney, a coming back from injury Owen (who is now injured again) and the Robot Stork, P-crouch. No offense to Walcott, who i've never seen play, and who might become great, but I don't think he's going to pull a Maradona and dazzle in the WC knockout rounds, having never played in an EPL match. It's possible but not likely. England had other options too, like Darren Bent, Andy Johnson or Jermaine Defoe, who combined have a hell of EPL goals. Hell even Shearer would have been a decent selection; he's not going to create anything himself at age 40 but on a team with Becks & Gerrard behind him he wouldn't have to.

    Sam,

I wonder why he did not get Walcott on the pitch today, especially after he pulled Rooney?

I remember when Owen dazzled as an 18 year old in '98....

    Good call, I don't know.

If I were Sven I'd just leave rooney up front and let Lamps & Gerrard play up front in quasi MF/F roles, put Lennon & Cole on the wings and let Beckam play at one back spot.
