Yeah i was surprised they didn't get that called. On the goal by South Korea i am surprised the French defender didn't attempt to even kick the ball out of the goal. He just watched it bounce....interesting none the less.

It didn't look like Korea kicked it into gear until halfway through the second half. I wasn't used to seeing them pull it back out time and time again...reminiscient of pre-2002. If they'd have attacked more (at one point I think France had 8 shots on goal to Korea's 1), I think they could have taken the match. Great game nonetheless, though. I LOVE PARK JI SUNG!

Yeah he did, he picked it up, and sent it back to the midfield.

Who was that guy? His reaction was a tad bit slow.

The crowd roared like the home team is up by 6 points and trying to make a 4th and 1 stop late in the 4th quarter of a football game. The difference is they roared like that 90 minutes throughtout the game. Were they supposed to get tired at some point? Amazing.

I wonder why he didn't use his hands to prevent the ball from going into the net. He might get a yellow card but their goalkeeper would have a chance to save the penalty kick. I know it's unsportsmanlike conduct to do that but so much is at stake...you know.

i am really pissed off about the yellow card given to zidan, now we probably wont see him in the world cup ever again, since he is suspended for the rest of this round and since he's retiring after this world cup. This is a horrible way to see one of the best players in soccer end their world cup career.

Because he would have gotten a red card.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. YOU DONT KNOW HOW HAPPY I AM RIGHT NOW... OUR GROUP OF 50 or SO WENT ABSOLUTELY NUTS INSIDE THE Buffalo Wild Wings by Kirkwood. WE WERE SO HAPPY THIS IS WHAT LIFE IS ABOUt.. and this is nothing compared to what is going on in KOREA RIGHT NOW. PPL ARE GOING NUTS OVER THERE.. YOU saw how there were 20,000 Korean fans in the Staples Center watching this game. There are not many fans that can say they can accomplish something that showed that kind of UNITY as that. DURING THIS WORLD CUP and the last, KOREAns all over the world came together AS ONE.

What a disaster for France, their next game is a MUST win. Serves them right for not including Robert Pires on their roster.

And I guess Adriano has a new baby recently? :)

The players' celebration of goals are very entertaining in World Cup games. South Americans have the most creative (and meaningful) ways of celabration, African dancings are interesting, Europeans' are okay while Asians' are a bit dull. :D

Edit: and Adriano did get a new baby a couple days ago...

Same here...that was a weak card. Hopefully France will advance and it won't be the end of his career. A true legend. He said God told him to come out of retirement to help France qualify for the WC so hopefully that means they will advance ;)

Define some. Blaming refs will go on no matter what justified or not. After calming down and watching the game again, I feel the ref actually did a good job. With ONE EXCEPTION!!! The Red card on Mastroeni. It was a yellow and a caution that another dumb foul and he was out. NO WAY IN HELL that is an automatic Red.
I can cite example after example of someone doing worse and either getting a yellow, a caution or nothing at all. The German keeper against France in the 1982 semi-finals nearly decapitates a french player and no card given. Morocco going after Ronaldo thighs in 1998 with their cleats(only one booking against Morocco). The whole Portugal team ruthlessly taking out Pele in 1966(Cards were not given until 1970).
If the refs are going to crack down, then they should do a better job of cracking down on the diving and play acting as well. They pick up the cards for rough play and forget to call them on the diving and acting.
Did you see all those italians writhing in unbearable pain only to get back up again and play as nothing happened 10 minutes later?!!??!!!
Are the refs and FIFA this blind??!! It's called acting you dumb****s!!!! Put your foot down on these clowns. If you're hurt fine, than the cards are justified and will be enforced mercilessly. But if you continue to play act and make a mockery of a rule put there to protect you, than you will be carded as well. Are the refs watching the game?? Can they tell the difference?? How many times are they going to be fooled in ONE game until they start realising that they're being had??? Is it so hard to put a little effort in their work to identify divers, actors and dirty players/teams?
Mastroeni's tackle was deserving of a card. It was stupid as well, coming in the other teams half and so close to halftime. But there is no F***ing way it's a Red Card. No way in hell, not even close.

p.s. what did you think FIFA was going to say??? we did a bad job of picking the refs for these games?? HA!!! That'll be the day.

There will always be controvertial calls in a soccor game. But if you think that's the worst refereed game in the world cup, you haven't been watching.

Togo were robbed a PK just moments ago.
