Ah to bad, England is not looking good, IMHO. They should not have this much difficulties with T&T, however if Rooney is playing things can change.

Ahhh, why was it offside  ?

Shouldn't be any offside within the box...

Same thing happened to me. I was able to watch most of the second half though. England is not playing great but still win, that is the sign of a very good team. Also, both games were against major underdogs who packed it in defensively. England will play better against Sweden and in the Round of 16, especially with Rooney playing the full game.

GO ENGLAND!!! This game should've been a blow out with all the opportunities that England had.

As much as I want to see Rooney play, I think England needs Owen in there as well. He is the most proven scorer on the team. Erikson seems to prefer Crouch because of the size mismatches he causes... This sucks, Owen is the reason why I cheer for England in the first place.

well it was ugly, but a wins a win and i'll take it.
England got to play better if they want anychance of wining the cup, the teams they played so far are no where close to the real power house teams.

I would watch what you say about Iran...remember we did beat the US. Iran would have their way with this US team as well. If we are at full strength we are a great team...by no means is the Iran team weak as the other teams you have mentioned before.....

The Iranian team beat the US in '98, they are not that good a side. As evidenced by them getting drummed by Mexico, a team we know own.

This team is a much better team then the 98 bunch..unfortunantly we didn't have one of our great midfielders against mexico which sucks...but I believe this Iran team would have the US's number again....

Neither is the US this year. Beating up on the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic to boost your CONCACAF rating doesn't mean too much when you're up against good European or S. American teams.

The only team from NA that is even remotely close to world class level is Mexico, and they're ok but not awesome; The best the US can do with them is usually play them even and split a few games. I just don't see where there's cause for complaint; there's bad draws in every tournament, that's life.

But if you can't beat or tie a Czech or Italy in the first round, how the hell do you expect to get past Brazil/Argentina/Spain/England in the knockout stages? If you're good enough to make noise in the WC, you'll have to beat good teams at some point; this US team so far hasn't looked it, and they've got nobody to blame for that but themselves.

Very good point Sam....there aren't great teams in the North America that they have to qualify against. Iran does face some decent competition in Asia with Japan & Korea and a few others. But honestly the US has a pretty easy road to the WC being in North America.

I don't disagree with that at all.

it showed in our first match...we need an attitude adjustment, a who cares balls to the wall attitude.

As for Iran, they are not that strong, I would put them far below the US in terms of soccer ranking.

But, neither of them are a threat in the world.

I don't think you can put them below the US considering they have beaten teams like Japan and Korea...if you don't put them at least above the US by a bit then the lowest they could be would be equal....you have to look at the competition that we have actually beaten this year.

Well I wouldn't go that far; after Japan and Korea (who I wouldn't necessarily rank as much better than the US/Mexico) - as well as Saudi, who always makes it to the WC and then always is out in 1 round - there is a HUGE drop-off in talent in the Asian region, and you're down to the Uzbeks & North Koreans & Bahranis. It also bears noting that the 4th place CONCACAF team (Trinidad) beat the 5th place Asian team (Bahrain) to make it to the finals this year.

Japan/Korea? Nice home country runs last time around, replete w/home cooking on the pitch, but to put them a cut above in the elite is not warranted, IMO

LOL - he just said that Mexico is 2nd rate, and you agree?

I do agree though that neither the USA nor Mexico is a real threat....BUT, on any given day.....
