Got to hand it to the Iranians for being very classy. They gave flowers and condolences to Oswaldo Sanchez for the passing away of his father. After something like that how can you not cheer for them.
Unfortunately the same can't be said for the people who booed them during the introductions. Sad.

No doubt, there is no need to boo their side, they are professional soccer players, and deserve respect, whether or not you agree with their government or not.

I like your politics. Would it be fair to say, "Humanity over control"

Absolutely fair.....just lace em up and let em play. Sports is the great equalizer, once on the field everyone has the same set of rules, no matter what their countries leaders say.

In an ideal world, sure. In the real world, not so.

    Huh?

You think the WC is unfair to some teams? The pitch is the same size for everyone, the refs are unbiased, I think it is the most fair place on earth.

(at least after the Italian scandal)

I was talking about sports -- it could be any kind. The WC is too early to tell.

Man talk about a crazy day...it was slammed packed in there we had about 200 Iranians in there and about 10 Mexicans it was crazy. First off congrats to Mexico they played really well and exploited the 1 area that we are weak in Defense on the left side and that's where they went to.

Iran has always had the problem that when it is up or tied they kind of releax and go on the defensive so they don't make mistakes but always end up doing...they took out Ali Karimi our best player and right after that they score 2 goals...don't know the logic behind that but they better rip the coach a new one for that stupid move.

Somone asked who number 10 for iran is, that's Ali Daei all time leading international scorer. :)

Yeah Sowly didn't come and i don't blame him even though they beat us he would have been severly outnumbered there.

The funniest part of the day would have to be when Mexico was up 1 - 0 i was in the kitchen helping and they have a regular tv in there and i saw the Iran goal i was going crazy in the kitchen came running out screaming only to see about 50 iranians look like im stupid. Then i looked at the screen and realized that my sattelites are on 3 - 5 second delay so they had not seen the goal yet....definitly was a nice moment.

I hope we can pull something off of in the Portugal game for sure. I'm still pissed that iran still manages to do that, go on the defensive instead of attacking because at the begining of the game they were attacking well. If they continue doing that crap im going to kill someone.

Iran played well but broke down after the 2nd goal...they should hold their heads up proud.

Portugal played very well but couldn't score, much like Holland. Angola recovered to play pretty good but just like the Ivory Coast, they dribble too much and don't shoot and make creative runs enough. Man Figo turned back the clock like 5 years, that was an impressive run he had to set up the goal while Ronaldo still does not get it. Those tricks are worthless if they don't help out your team (Watch some Ronaldinho tapes and learn from the best!). And Scolari needs to start Maniche, that dude has one of the best shooting skills in the world.

ABC/ESPN's coverage has been pretty bad. They bring up the US every 5 minutes, it is sickening already. They talk more about the US than they do about the actual game going on.

I really wish the US the best but if the Czechs play to its capabilities, it is going to be a long afternoon for us. Czech was the most impressive team at Euro 2004. They play a beautiful style and take shots from everywhere on the field. Watch out for Nedved and Baros.

I am interested in seeing Australia tomorrow. They have so many players that play in the EPL and the Dutch Hiddink is their coach (he's taken Holland and Korea to 4th place finishes).

I won't be able to watch the US play tomorrow. Does anyone have a replay schedule so I can catch it later?

As they should be. It is the American Broadcasting Network. I'm sure if you watch the matches on the BBC or Canal Espana or any other international broadcaster, they will be talking alot about their national teams, even during the matches that they aren't taking part in.

Maybe try to find the CBC feed? Since their team sucked so bad they didn't even get in the WC, i'm sure they will be focusing on nothing but the match itself.

I watched every single Euro 2004 match which was covered by the british and during the matches they covered, they did NOT mention England every 5 minutes because they actually know about other teams in the world besides their own. I know they need to hype up the US game but to bring it up every 5 minutes is ridiculous.

No, here in Mexico, they not mention the mexican team during every game, maybe a little mention during the games of the teams in their group, but not all the game.

I don't think Angola and Ivory Coast can even be compared...Ivory Coast don't play that well as a team but they have some players with some scary talent. I didn't see that from Angola.

    Figo did it against Angola...

i agree, if the Czech show up to play there is no way the U.S can match that team. However, Nedved is old and so are some of their other star players. Just depends on if what kind of form they are in.

I honestly think Ghana will be the cinderella team this year...poor Italians are gonna get beat. Ghana has a some sick speed and strength; don’t think Italy will be able to keep up. However the Ghanaians don’t have much experience at the back so it’s basically up to their defense to show up.
